About Aqua Africa
We have two types of ensuite accommodation, and every room has its own balcony with fantastic lake views - the perfect spot for relaxing after your day’s diving. Our deluxe rooms come with air-conditioning. At our restaurant, the Dive Deck, you can get a selection of treats - from proper coffee and homemade cakes to tortilla wraps and scrumptious salads.
The lake is teeming with an array of tropical fish - it is home to hundreds of species found nowhere else on earth. And on top of that, Malawi’s gorgeous Rift Valley scenery is reflected under the waters of the lake - creating a stunning marine landscape of dramatic rock formations, caverns and cliffs. These features make it one of the world’s top fresh water dive locations.
You don’t need any previous experience to explore this magical world - we offer a full range of PADI courses. For beginners, you can choose from a half-day Discover Scuba Diving experience, to a full four-day Open Water course. For those who are already qualified we are able to offer refresher and advanced courses, as well as a variety of speciality dives. For many divers, the Lake is their first chance to do a freshwater dive, as well as a dive at altitude.
Some of Lake Malawi’s best diving is right on our doorstep, for example the site featured in David Attenborough’s most recent BBC series - Planet Earth. To see this at its best come and explore on a nightdive and join the dolphin fish in their hunt.
Staying at Aqua Africa is the perfect complement to your dive course, enabling you to enjoy a wonderfully relaxed holiday. Our two deluxe rooms come with air-conditioning and beautifully fitted out bathrooms. Our standard rooms are also en-suite and all have stunning balconies on which to enjoy the view.
Aqua Africa is only a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Nkhata Bay and you can easily visit the local market, or look for something special from one of the town’s wood carvers - perhaps even order one of Malawi’s famous Chief’s Chairs!
And if it’s peace and quiet you’re after, simply make your way down to our secluded beach and enjoy the view. Before long you are sure to be treated to a sight of one of the local fish eagles as well as an array of kingfishers, egrets, herons and weavers.
