Liked: I liked very friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Location of Metropolis is excellent in Kaunas. Best value for money for students group travailing.

Liked: Although the hotel has seen better days I did apprecite the faded elegance of the place and its atmospheric charm. Also there was a good breakfast buffet and the staff were helpful.

Disliked: A little difficult to find when first arriving in Kaunas late at night but no major issues.

Liked: Nice old building, location is great, good breakfast.

Disliked: Our room was very small, we didn't have a sink so brushing your teeth had to be done in the bathtub.

Liked: The location was good, approximately a 10-15 minute walk from Kaunas Old Town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great with lots of choice. Drinks such as water and Coke were available to buy in the hotel reception. The room had TV with BBC.

Disliked: Although the foyer of the hotel was very grand, the room itself was rather run down and tatty. The bath tub had an extremely high and sloped side which could be hazardous for children or the elderly. The curtains in our bedroom were totally ridiculous - they were really thin and did not even cover the entire window, meaning that we had to get changed in the bathroom for privacy and also the whole room was flooded with daylight by 5:30am which woke me up. Could do with some renovation but for £18 a night not too bad.

Liked: The hotel had character! Our bathroom was modern and clean and the room wasn't dull and didn't look like every other hotel room. The location was very good. We were a little bit disappointed with Kaunas, especially on the first night as we couldn't find any places to go to for a late night meal and beer! Once we got to know the place a little bit, it got better. The hotel is situated on the main street but shopping is best done at Akropolis-shopping center. The old town is a walking distance away. A very big plus is that our room had a balcony, which was FANTASTIC!

Disliked: The non-smoking room smelled of cigarettes which was unpleasant.

Liked: ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!! This is a lovely hotel! The building is amazing, rich of history, our room was large, clean, with tv and fridge. The bathroom was large, clean, with a wonderful big shower. :) Receptionists are very helpful and polite :)

Liked: I liked the location and the atmosphere of an 19th century aristocratic building. I stayed in a single room - with balcony and large bed, bathtub... Nice staff.

Liked: Had a newly refurbished single room. Very clean and comfortable bed. Hotel has lots of character and is very good value for money. Would recommend to others

Liked: very good location

Disliked: the hotel's second part (annex) was seriously damp (smell of dampness was everywhere, especially in the lifts) and some rooms not fit for habitation - unsafe: one window lock was broken.

Liked: The location was good, close to the city centre and old town. Breakfast was varied with different kinds of bread, sausages, eggs and bisquits.

Disliked: Our room was in the old part of the hotel, so it wasn't that fancy. It was really hot in the room. The toilet didn't work. But we were there only one night so we didn't find out how quickly it would be fixed.

Liked: Though many reviews I've read have claimed that the Metropolis has lost its charm, I think this is a very thoughtless thing to say. Many hotels in Eastern Europe would not have met with Western standards twenty years ago, and though the rooms have had their original features plastered over, they are fresh and clean-looking, nicely decorated with new bathrooms. The charm which may once have made the hotel famous can be found amongst the stairwells and in the wonderful reception--in, which I may add, had the most helpful staff. They seemed English-friendly and had a decent grasp of the language. The breakfast was simple but nice and the hotel was generally a good place to stay.
