IIt was a surprise for us that the main entrance and the staircase hall were under reparation, so we had som difficulties to find the celler entrance, but there were noother disadvantages.
Overview
The "Jelgava" hotel was built in 1938 after the plans of architect Alfred Laukirbe and is a cultural monument of the Republic of Latvia.
A private hotel. The hotel is situated in the centre of Jelgava.
In the 17th-18th centuries Jelgava was the capital of dukedom of Kurzeme and Zemgale.
In its time Jelgava hosted Peter I, Charles XII, Luis XVIII, Katherine II, William II, the musicians - Shuman, Vagner, Rubinstein, the card player Kavallo, Kaliostro who invoked phantoms, Kazanova the masher, and other people famous in the world history.
