Liked: Free WiFi. Some computers you can use.

Disliked: One of the owner(the father, I guess) seemed totally unwilling to answer any of my questions. The other owner( the son) was very dishonest. First he told me to wait 30 min. to get a room, and I waited at least 2 hours to no avail. I got a bed after returning to the hotel 6 hours later. He also told me another Swedish is living in the same dorm as mine, and later he changed his mind to tell me it would be an American. After one night, no one came. The thing that really got me mad was that he told me there was no taxi or service taxi whatsoever on Fridays due to Friday is Islamic holiday. And so since I had to go to the airport on Friday, he offered me his taxi for 120~170 JOD. But I found out myself that all taxis or service taxis operated normally that day, so, ignoring his offer, I got to the airport with less than 5 JOD! He was totally trying to rip me off, and while I was bargaining with some taxi drivers he even helped the drivers to get an unreasonably high price out of me. What he did was just disgusting. One more thing, he tried to enter my dorm room in the middle of the night (12PM) just to get a fan, and loudly scolded me for having locked the dorm room, claiming that the dorm is not mine alone and I should not have locked it. But the fact is that in more than 10 hostel dorms I stayed across Europe and Middle-East all doors were lockable. He was very pissed off on me locking the door and wondering why someone would want to enter the room in the middle of the night, and blamed me in a very bad manner. All in all, the owners here are horrible, and very unpleasant. Not recommended.

Liked: Sun Rise Hostel is located in a good location in down town close to every thing you need,the hostel is clean and just been refurbished,hot water and clean sheets changed regularly,the staff were very helpfull especially Odie is a great guy,the internet is free and the use of the kitchen was a bonus, I had a great time and recomend Sun Rise Hostel. Liked: 15 minute walk to JETT bus station for Petra, owner organizes daily tours with others staying at the hotel for reasonable prices (hough admittedly driver has limited English), wireless internet available in the lounge (note: not in room), free breakfast upon request. Rooms cleaned daily.

Disliked: Either less fraud or more organization on the part of staff - I can't tell which at this point. I booked on hostelbookers (including deposit), when I showed up they apparently didn't have any record of the booking and were assertive about 'upgrading' the room for an extra 5 JOD per night to get a room with hot water/heating (and didn't offer to include the already paid deposit). Required payment in cash the full amount up front. Received a call at 11 PM at night the day after returning from them, advising me that I didn't pay and they were going to charge my credit card. Only apologized after I described in detail the facts of our discussion when I arrived and that the owner and another staff member (and a third person who can vouch for the payment) were all present., and that I am well-connected enough to get the police involved if they dared charge me twice. Were pushy about writing a good review of the hotel during the stay (including on the first night of arrival) on a separate site (which required entering credit card details). Room not in great state of decoration but sheets did seem clean and it was definitely cleaned each day. Unfortunately difficult to determine at this point if it's just really poor organization and record-keeping and just trying to establish themselves or a poorly executed attempt to scam (trying to charge twice or three times by putting card details in another site despite the credit card companies and police not tolerating this at all). Will update review (on this site and others) once it's clear there wasn't a scam in place here.

Liked: The owner and hıs son ıs frıendly. They can help you ıf you ask. The dorm room was so cold wıthout heat. the shower ıs not workıng all the tıme. late nıte most travellers complaınt about ıt. The hotel ıs too old they need to do somethıng about ıt. But 3dıner per nıte. what you can do. The locatıon ıs not so good anymore besıdes close to Jett Bus company. because some local bus company already moved out to somewhere.

Disliked: kıchen too dırty. shower n toılet ıs clean but have no hot water.

Liked: for me this the place i can recomend to others coz they will make you feel that your not away from home they will make you feel that your one of the family not as a tourist.the staff are really nice and fun.the place is comfortable and they will give you the best service that they can give it to you.for all tourist who looking for a good place to stay and affordable i will recomend this place for a good reasonable price and best people.

Liked: Very usefull staff. Located in abdali station to go to damascus.Cheap and money worth it.You can book tours in the hotel to go to Petra and Wadi Rum.And they will help you in anything you need

Liked: Convenient for bus station, and helpful (if a little pushy) staff.

Disliked: Was undergoing renovation and as such power supply was intermittent and there was some.noise. Hot water was also broken in our room. The staff were friendly and helpful in their attempts to rectify these problems.

Liked: It is close to the Jet bus stop to Petra. Other than that, I didn´t like anything about it.

Disliked: The manager made us very uncomfortable. He is known by the locals to be quite tricky and insidious, and we saw that first hand. He will try to talk you into expensive tours and he tries to make a profit off just helping you.

Liked: I recomend this hotel because staff is very friendly and kind as well as they gave me a lot of information for me about travelling Jordan.Especialy if you want to go to the Petra from Amman, this hotel is better because it is very close to the Jett Bus station which go to the Petra directly and easily (we can go there by walk about 10min). Thank you for owner and Odai !!

Liked: The reception guy is poor in English. Busy all the time and seems no time to handle my inquiries. The room is standard, but it's fine since you'll get as you paid. From the roman amphitheather, it would be take 20-30 minutes walk. I would think twice (and maybe more) to re-stay in this hotel.

Liked: Friendly staff member called Odai and friendly street life outside.The 2 young kids knocking around the place were really sweet and friendly.The older guy is sullen though but you don't need to talk to him as Odai knows everything about the city.Nice and quiet at night so you can sleep.Good fans, rooms are cool at night.Hot showers always available and room on the roof to dry your clothes.Very basic but probably the cheapest place around but jus fine for travellers.Lots of places closeby to eat including a great and very very cheap fallafel house 10 minutes walk away.Good reliable free and fast wireless internet and PC for those without a laptop.Easy to find, just take a 1.5 Dinar taxi from Shamali bus station (which is where the airport bus finishes) and ask taxi driver to go to Abdali Bus Station (which is now a cheap clothes and fruit market). Every taxi driver knows it.The Shamali bus station, is also the location to catch the shared minibus to the King Hussein bridge. They leave from the centre of the bus station. I paid 3 Dinar for the trip in August 2009.Apparently in on month (at the end of September 2009) Abdali will be reinstated as the city's main bus station, becuse Shamali is proving so unpopular, which will make this hotel even more convenient, especially for those wanting to travel to Israel via the King Hussein Bridge (I think the King Hussein bridge buses will then run directly from Abdali Bus station).I only meant to stay in the Sunrise for one night but the deeply sinister and paranoid Israeli security wouldn't let me cross the border so I had to return to Amman to appeal at the Israeli border. I went back to the Sunrise and they let me stay there for the same rate that I had booked on the Internet (which is not the rate they give to people walking in off the street).I had a room in a shared dorm but I had it all to myself as no-one else came. I'm writing this before I know if the embassy will give me a visa.I love Israel, the land, the desert, the history, the archaeology, the religious mix, the Bible, the sun and the people, Jews and Arabs alike, but I don't like this fascist regime.Don't underestimate Jordan, they people here are so much less complicated!

Liked: Ok, it's a pretty cheap place, and you'll get what you paid for (a bit cold in winter though, it should be ok in Spring and Summer). What makes it different is how friendly and helpful the staff has been in helping me planning my trip in Jordan or negociating prices with taxi drivers. If you need a place just to sleep, I'd recommend this one. The town center is just a ten minute walk from there, and they'll let you use the Internet.
