About Hotel Canal
Elegant and with attention to every detail, Hotel Canal provides top quality services and comforts, the absolute best for a 3-star hotel in Venice: the reception stays open 24h, and the main hall and TV room are available to guests for reading, a moment of relaxation, or for conversation.
In summer, the delightful garden opens, a rare privilege for a hotel in Venice.
The bar, which is reserved for clients, is open the whole day long for a coffee, a drink or a small snack. The charming breakfast room, is tastefully decorated, complete with refined fabric wall treatment: a Continental buffet is served here and comes with a wide selection of sweet and salty foods, juices and hot beverages to meet the demands of the international clientele that comes to stay at the hotel.
For lunch or dinner, and to savor the exquisite offerings of Venetian cuisine, hotel clients benefit from special discounts at restaurants found on a list available at the front desk.
At check-in time, guests will receive all sorts of pamphlets and information on the most popular visits to museums and other landmarks in Venice as well as events and shows happening in the city. Moreover, they will be able to book excursions and guided tours. Upon request, we will provide a transfer service to and from the airport and to other localities, and for those coming by car, a special rates garage is available.
In the 17 rooms of Hotel Canal, you will find the characteristic and elegant ambiance of 18th-century Venice. Very inviting and bright, some with pleasant views over Canal or the hotel's garden, the rooms are available double (used also as single), master, triple and quadruple, for those coming to Venice with their families and children.
Comforts found here are superior for what can be expected from a 3-star hotel in Venice and you have the option of staying at one of the rooms reserved for non-smokers.
Each comes with a private bath with bathtub or shower and also hairdryer, sat TV, direct-dial phone, mini bar, safe, and convenient independent air conditioning to regulate the air conditioning or the heating.
Located in the historic center near the train station and the car terminal (Piazzale Roma), Hotel Canal is only 2 minutes from the "Piazzale Roma" Stop, where the vaporetti that travel the Grand Canal, -the main waterway of Venice with its many splendid palaces-, take off for the Rialto Bridge, and Saint Mark's Square, close to major museums and landmarks.
Piazzale Roma is also the place to take the vaporetti that go to Murano, the island famous the world-over for its glass workAs you reach the hotel you will go through a succession of suggestive narrow streets and small squares, picturesque corners and important historical and art landmarks of age-old Venice, all truly appealing. On the Fondamenta of Hotel Canal you can make out the Church of San Simeone Piccolo, a prelude of Neoclassic taste, built in the 18th-century, according to the same concepts used in the building of the Pantheon in Rome: with a deep entrance portico that gives to the main area and an imposing cupola.
In Campo dei Tolentini, next to the prestigious University Architecture Institute of Venice, whose entrance was designed by Carlo Scarpa, you will find the beautiful 16th-century church of San Nicolò di Tolentino which houses fine paintings from the 16th and the 17th century, and the grandiose baroque altar.
The Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista, is a marvelous example of late 15th-century architecture where important events and congresses are held, and thanks to excellent acoustics, also prestigious concerts of classical music. The Renaissance staircase is impressive and so is the great hall with marvelous huge canvas paintings.
One of the most original museums in Venice is a 10-minute walk from the hotel: the Museo di Palazzo Mocenigo where among furnishings from the 18th-century there is a precious garment collection exhibit, featuring costumes from the 18th-century, made from figured fabrics embellished with embroidery and lace, a testimonial of the sumptuous elegance that made Venice famous the world-over.
For those who love shopping, if you go past Ponte degli Scalzi, 2 minutes from the hotel, the very long Strada Nuova is lined with stores and shops offering all types of goods, and on the Mercerie, you will find major brand name fashion boutiques.
