Liked: The staff was friendly and willing to help. On the other hand, they did not speak much English or other foreign languages. Breakfast was relatively many-sided and the rooms were clean, in particular if compared with average two star hotels in Italy. A possibility to have dinner at a reasonable price in the hotel restaurant. In short, if you need a practical low-budget accommodation without any luxuries in Genoa, Hotel Serafino might be a good choice for you: the balance between price and quality is OK.

Disliked: The hotel has no parking place, and it is almost impossible (and maybe unsafe) to park along the streets nearby. However, you may ask the staff to book a place in a garage 400 meters from the hotel (do it in advance and be prepared to pay 20 euros per night). The surroundings are quite noisy from 5 AM to 12 PM, so this might be a problem if you are not a sound sleeper. There is no air-conditioning, but maybe you even cannot expect to have one in a two star hotel in Italy.

Liked: Pretty cheap and good for a one night stay. But I can not recommend this Hotel for longer stays. The Breakfast was unexpectedly rich (in comparison to other Italian Breakfast). Unfortunately the shower was not in best conditions and in the room corners were mould-infested.

Liked: the walk to the hostel was a little sketchy--later found out you take the bus from the station really cheap (1euro for the ride, a little over 3 euro for a day pass) so take the bus! but it is really close to the airports so thats good for anyone coming in by plane. There wasn't a whole lot to do near the hotel but if you take the bus to the pier area or piazza ferrari there is more of a night life--went bar hopping, Friday seemed more lively than Saturday.
