By boat Palermo's port will be your first destination if you take the ferry to Sicily. Here are the various possibilities. You will go by train, plane or car to Genova.
There, you will take the ferry which provides an extremely comfortably equipped trip although the crossing will take 20 hours. If you drive further down Italy, you will find ferry connections which operate all year round from Naples (the crossing will take 10 hours) or from Livorno (the crossing is 17 hours). These ferries will be equipped less luxuriously, but the crossing is much cheaper as well. The ferries might not run on daily in the off-season, please look at the time-table at www.navionline.com.
By car coming from Palermo: you will take the motorway A 20 in direction of Messina and will take the exit Cefalù Ovest. coming from Messina: first, you will take the motorway A 20 in direction of Palermo. As the motorway is not finished completely you will have to take the last possible exit on the road SS 113 to Cefalù. You will find Hotel Kalura located on the right before you enter the town of Cefalù. You will not miss your destination as you will see the hotel from far due to its incomparable location. You will also find a large sign, so it is impossible to get lost!
