Liked: Második alkalommal voltam a Hotel Alcazarban. Tiszta, kényelmes, rendkívül figyelmes, udvarias, segítőkész a személyzet. Minden igényt kielégítő kifogástalan a reggeli. 24 órában ingyenes internet, kávé, tea, víz, üdítő. A tetőteraszról remek panoráma az Olajfák hegyére, a városra.

Liked: The breakfast buffet was amazing. Free tea and coffee at all times. Large room and bathroom.

Liked: The gracious muslim host who spoke good English and was quite effective at solving any problems with the room etc. Good clean room though a bit of third-world mentality shows - stuff is not thrown out just because it has some damage, it is used until it is no longer usable. Like a bed with holes in it or tiles with bits broken off and repaired. Hot shower. Humongous breakfast, that I wrote home about. It contains all the stuff for a full English breakfast (sans bacon but with sausages) and lots of dairy products, tune salad, olives, hummus, and lots of fried or stewed or saladed vegetable dishes and fruit and drinks and toast and more. I had breakfast the size of dinner and later had a dinner the size of a regular breakfast. The hotel had a nice trade going with groups of muslims from India. Lovely people and very colorful. A couple of hotel guests and I were allowed to eat an evening meal at the hotel (since they were cooking for the group anyway). That was nice because walking in Jerusalem all day tired me out. Special mention for the halkoum shop (turkish delight) a couple of doors down from the hotel. Very wonderful selection. SUch nice people.
Disliked: I liked the location because it was easy to walk out and up mount Scopus and see sheep, olive trees and have some peace and quiet (though you also have to deal with some busy roads), and good access to buses up there. But for a tourist with not a lot of time the location is not the best, better to choose a location near Yafo road and that side of the Old City. A thing I disliked was that the bottom sheets are, as always, too small to stay on the mattress especially if you like the covers not-tucked-in. My room happened to have a lovely view but the control of the heater was broken. Since it was cold and the Indian guests liked warmth, the heat was going and since it heated several rooms at once, mine could not be shut down. The room was like a sauna - great for drying laundry - but it dried me out at night and I regretted having to open the window to let some of the heat out. It was a bit far to the nearest nice restaurant but two falafel/swarma joints plus order-in were available. The downstairs lobby where wifi was, was not heated the first four chilly days. I wore two thick sweaters and then it was okay.

Liked: Unbelievable frendliness of the staff, good breakfast, free maps available
Disliked: The location can be unconvenient for elder people or for those who have troubles walking as the hotel is located in a valley which means quite a steep climb (it was OK for us)

Liked: It's really old and shabby, but totally clean. The breakfast is great and the staff very friendly. We got free soup each night. It's not far to the old city (10 min seems about right), but hard to find if you don't have gps or a very good map of Jerusalem.
Disliked: nothing much. They sure could renovate quite a bit. But for the money this place has good value.

Liked: The staff was friendly and of course by staying at this hotel I experienced a different side of Jerusalem.

Liked: Good to very good value for the money. Very, very helpful and friendly staff! Good breakfast. Nice view over the Mount of Olives from you balcony, or in case you don't have one, from the roof.
Disliked: The location is remote, the walk to the Old city is not really fun and takes quite some time on not so very pedestrian-friendly streets. The hotel's interiour/rooms look rather worn out.

Liked: Location was practical for my programme.I was not bothered by anyone, quiet place.Very affordable, not a hostel but private rooms. In the hotel I found some useful info on tourist trips.Small shops round the corner.
Disliked: The house is old and worn (but very clean, not a single insect). Airco was not always on. Some things in the room were broken, but they were fixed even without me asking. Wireless Internet only in the hall/dining room, not in the rooms. I did not always feel at ease walking Arab neighbourhood (at night) to get there.
