The area hosts approximately eighty documented archaeological sites spanning a period of 5,000 years including important examples of virtually all monument types known nationally. The Sliabh Liag (Slieve League) Peninsula, with its unique mix of breathtaking coastal scenery, rugged hills and stone-age archaeology, must be one of the most interesting walking areas in Europe.
