Liked: Having planned a trip with multiple 6AM train departures, we were looking for a hotel close to New Delhi Railway Station. Hostel New King fit the bill perfectly. The hotel is on the Paharganj Main Road -- the road leading to New Delhi Station's main entrance. Because of its location, the street outside is crowded at all hours, so we felt quite safe coming back late at night or leaving early morning. (Because of the crowds, the street is also extremely dirty, especially towards the Station).

Disliked: nothing.

Liked: We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The room and bathroom were very clean. Hotel is in the great location in the main bazaar Paharganj, close to New Delhi train station and metro station. There is a free Wi-Fi at the lobby and we could store our luggage while we went sightseeing before our night flight. Recommended.

Disliked: wi.fi was bit slow

Liked: It wasn't on the Main Bazar like Anoop and some others, but it was close to the action on the Paharganj. Cheap too, but not worth it to get sick from mold

Disliked: This was the worst experience I've ever had at a hostel, It honestly was. I feel like the reviews on hostel bookers were bogus after my experience here. I've gotten pretty lucky with hostels in general and I usually don't complain about stuff, but this place got me sick for days and I just wasn't feelin the vibe here from the minute I walked in the place. 1. The mold in my room was so bad, I got really sick for 6 days after I left. 2. Right when I checked in I kind of noticed a mold smell in my room and went to the front desk and asked if they could please change my room, they said they had nothing available, but the room right across from mine was open all night. I was so tired I didn't want to look for another place. I just crashed and when I woke up 4 hours later my lungs were literally burning from the mold. I've never experienced anything like that. Super Unhealthy. 3. Staff wasn't apologetic at all about it and didn't make any attempt to change the room or even say they were sorry or anything. 4. Would be better to stay right on the main bazar. I later checked out the Anoop Hotel b/c I had seen some good reviews searching on Google and I wish I would've stayed there. Better vibe, they had a rooftop restaurant and a huge chillout area on the roof. No I do not work for Anoop, I'm just trying to give peeps a heads up. Do not stay at the New King, there are better choices right on the Main Bazar

Liked: My wife and I stayed in The Hostel New King in New Delhi for four nights in early January 2012. Although it was our very first trip to India, we were able to move about easily. The hostel is very accessible: it is located at a walking distance from New Delhi Metro Station and New Delhi Railroad Station. Going anywhere in Delhi and travelling to any other cities in India or any neighboring country is a breeze, especially if you travel light. Although the area is not an upscale one; I found it very safe and nobody harassed us. The staff is very courteous and willing to help

Disliked: overall was nice place to stay..

Liked: that due to non available rooms I was handed over to a nearby guesthouse which would have got a better rating than this one

Disliked: I did not dare going into the shower/WC/washing room/don't know what, actually to take a shower you had to stand in/over the toilet, the latter being decently clean, the rest of the room looked like it had not been cleaned in ages. Due to the windows towards the hallway, sleeping was a little hard as one could hear every single word being said at the reception despite sleeping on the second floor

Liked: We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of our trip and two nights at the end of our trip to India. Located main bazar the tipical location, you cannot ask for a better location especially if you want to go out strolling during the day or at night. It is in the very near the metro station and so you cannot have a better location. However, despite the kind staff, the rooms are very clean with great hot shower free wi.fi in the rooms .

Liked: Location and hot shower

Disliked: The owner tried to manipulate me into buying into his 'tour package' by frightening me- he tried to charge me 16,000 rupees. As a lone female I REALLY didn't appreciate him telling me that I wouldn't 'make it' to the train station if I went outside alone and he also lied and told me there were no available tickets for the trains (I was actually able to book all my tickets went I went to the foreign tourist office in the rail station). The owner generally had a really bad attitide and was really negative when he was speaking about India and the people there... not the best first impression! He put a dampener on my arrival and was quite cheeky to me when I told him I was happy to travel independently by telling me I was 'over-confident'... he was just annoyed that I wouldn't let him con me out of my hard earned money! NOT recommended to stay here... AVOID this loser and his pessimism. I even had a random autorickshaw driver warn me about the owner of this hotel, telling me that he 'rips poepl off on tour packages by lieing to them'. I recommend looking for somewhere friendlier with an owner with morals and a conscience...

Liked: The Hostel New King in Delhi was our first stop on a two-week tour. We arrived at 2am but they were still welcoming. It made a good impression with friendly staff and a nice owner, The room was clean and comfortable with a good, hot shower. They shared dinner of chicken biryani and Kingfisher beer to wash it down. They also booked a car and driver for our tour - best stay...

Liked: The New King is located near the New Delhi Trainstation, which makes it comfortable for everybody to get to other places. The stuff is very friendly and trustful. For me it was the best start into my India journey. I got a Delhi belly while being in Delhi, and fortunately I was able to stay in the NEw King during this period, because it was a bit of home for me and I felt secure and surrounded by people that took good care and were concerned about me. The best place to stay in Delhi!!!

Liked: Great location right in the heart of the bazaar - and mega cheap! The staff were actually pretty helpful with any questions that we had, and if you ask them very very nicely you might be able to wangle a special price for your airport pick-up (though getting the metro and then a rickshaw is probably the cheapest way).

Disliked: REalistically, the place was pretty filthy - I've stayed in some ropey places worldwide, and unfortunately this qualifies as the dirtiest. Plus there is no heating/hot water and Delhi in winter is FREEZING. If you are seriously poor, and can handle slumming it for a night or two, this'll save you the equivalent of a couple of days worth of dinner money! However, if you can stump up an extra couple of quicd a night, you can probably find a much more comfortable place to stay. Be warned, if you stay here, you will be grateful of a sleepingbag/liner to sleep inside!

Liked: Good hot showers. Good location, just off the main drag. Our friend had booked a dorm, but when we got there it was full, so he was given a room to himself for the same price for the whole of our stay.

Disliked: No rooftop terrace or communal area, which most other places in the area have. On our first night we were given a room with no bathroom even though we'd booked an ensuite. We were moved into a better room the following night though.
