Cozily ensconded on a slope surrounded by acres of terraced paddy fields, lush bamboo groves and sub-tropical forest the Bamboo Retreat is located only a 30 min. drive out from the blare and babble of Gangtok.
Established by Swiss Helen Kämpf and her Sikkimese Team the Bamboo Retreat endeavors to bridge the cultures of the east and west by offering the best of and to each world.

From the secluded comfort of your own private balcony, you can enjoy the panoramic vista of the city of Gangtok with the Himalayas towering in the background. In the evenings you can relax with a cup of tea and a good book while the chirping of the birds and the tick ticking of the insects from the forest all around will be the only sounds you’ll hear.

Our panoramic restaurant offers local sikkimese as well as Indian, Chinese and even Italian cuisine. You can meditate in our traditional prayer hall, take guided village- and monastic walks, interact with the villagers or relax in a refreshing herbal bath made from homegrown fresh herbs.

Carefully laid out according to the principles of Feng Shui the retreat has its own gardens and 12 individually decorated rooms according the themes of the elements: Water, earth, wood, fire and metal.
The room types are : Deluxe room ,Emerald apartment,Nathula Suite,Sgl Dlx room.
Deluxe rooms: 08 Each room at Bamboo Retreat has its own individual character and is decorated in various colour-themes acoording to the elements as taught in Feng Shui. Every rooms come with balconies providing stunning, panormaic views of Nathula and the Eastern Sikkim- Himalayas towering behind the city of Gangtok.
Emerald for up to 4 persons with two bedrooms, bathroom, balcony, porch, kitchen, living room with spectacular panorama view of Nathula range.
The Nathula Suite has a perfect Panorama view on famous Nathula mountain, over to Gangtok and also to the forrest. The Suite is spacious, the bathroom is outside/attached

The hotel’s architecture is inspired by Sikkim’s monastic architecture that originated from Tibet. Bamboo, an eco-friendly under-valued material has been much used in interior decoration.
