Liked: Good location for ease of access to historical sites in Fort Cochin, shopping, and transportation to other parts of Kerala. As a young female travelling alone, I never felt any cause for concern about my safety while staying at this establishment. There are substantial locks on the room door that are locked from the inside only and not dependent upon a key shared by hotel staff. Breakfast included. 24 hour hot water.

Disliked: Sheets and towels were dingy (greying, probably washed by hand somewhere) and had dirty spots on them. I have concerns about bed bugs and didn't trust the hygiene of their food preparation as much as I did in some other hotels I stayed in while in India. Staff were eager to call the room to convince me to eat dinner there but did not explain or inquire as to whether I understood their practices in housekeeping (I didn't and learnt after two days of no housekeeping service that I was supposed to leave the key at the front desk if I wanted my room cleaned). Staff provided service sparingly and grudgingly. This hotel compares poorly to other hotels in this price bracket that I stayed at while in India. Were I to return to Cochin, I would follow the suggestion of a middle class Kerala resident and stay at the Grand Hotel (it was full when I booked for this time) around the corner or check into a cheaper (carefully selected) homestay in town.

Liked: Nice Staff. Very friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The non-airconditioned area right outside my room you had to go through from the elevator.

Liked: This hotel is very well located for sites and train station. Very high standard for travellers! Excellent restaurant at surprisingly reasonable prices.
