Liked: There's nothing like a fake cockney accent to make you smile. I arrived at the Hotel Sidartha, stressed after having to deal with the hassle of Agra, to an 'awight Jenny. Lovely jubly'. The location is perfect: it's so central. The room was basic but clean and the restaurant was really nice (try to banana lassis - they taste like melted cheesecake). If you wake up early, you may see the pigeon displays over the house next door. This is where pigeons fly in parabolic arcs, and swoops and waves around the sky. It's wonderful.

Disliked: You couldn't go onto the roof because of the monkeys, but they stayed away from the rest of the hotel and didn't cause any trouble when i was there.

Disliked: There is no hot water in the entire hostel. The boss said until next year there will be NO HOt WATER!!! Plus NO INTERNET AT ALL. Lots of money's around . The roof top restaurant cant be used coz too many monkeys around

Liked: A pleasant place to stay, not as much noice from the road as other hotels, the hotel manager is a real character, a very nice bloke who is very easy to get along with. It is a ver short (100M) walk to the Taj West Gate, and there are numerouse restaurants, internet cafes etc in the Taj Ganj area, I would recommend this place to my friends, and i would stay here again

Disliked: Dont put too much toilet paper in the toilet....

Liked: Closeness to the Taj Mahal... its worth staying here for that alone! Great roof terrace with fantastic view of Taj! The monkeys can be a problem but some attentive "monkey guard" staff wait in the roof top stairwell to guide them away if any get close! The garden cafe is a nice place to have some breakfast.

Disliked: Infested with bugs. Little beetles all over the floor in bedroom and bathroom of non-ac room... so moved to an ac room for the second night and this seemed to be better. No Internet access as described. You will be guided to the shop next door to pay to use their computer. There was also no TV in the non-ac room, that was also desbribed.

Liked: Proximity to Taj Mahal

Disliked: Cost of services was a bit high, i.e. laundry, which I'm sure is due to it's location to the Taj Mahal. Assortment of bugs in room and strong sewage smell.

Liked: The closeness to Taj Mahal

Disliked: Room looked like they hadn't even tried to clean it. Monkeys fighting and making lots of noise outside room throughout the night.

Liked: hotel staff very helpful! the location is good as you can just walk to the west gate of the Taj.

Disliked: you don't expect anything for the price that you pay. i did not stay overnight as i only booked for the day to leave my things as i went sightseeing around Agra

Liked: I liked that it was very close to the train station and that it was cheap.

Disliked: To get to the hotel, you need to walk through two tiny alleys. The first alley you pass through has 2 urinals! So it is not a nice sight/smell when you pass through there with your luggage. The hotel itself is nice enough for 2 nights, but not for a long term stay. Walking early in the morning to the train station can be a little intimidating.

Liked: Very near western gate of Taj Mahal

Disliked: NO hot shower during the two night stay, although they changed our room.. rooms awful and cold (but cheap of course) staff bit arrogant

Liked: Staff were very friendly - unlike any reviews I had previously read about the staff and worried about - they must have had a complete overhaul. Manager was super friendly and helpful. Great location for taj mahal (less than a minute walk) and also within the 'no traffic' area, so no noisy cars outside at night like the rest of the streets. We had the most basic room and was okay, best could expect for agra at that price.

Disliked: No communal area to sit outside of rooms when it gets stuffy during the day - rooftop has too many macaques and feel you have to keep buying food to stay in the cafe. Locks on basic room doors could be better. Lights outside the rooms shone through the curtains at night, but overall would stay there again if visiting agra.

Liked: Nice staff, clean, great location near the Taj and a good view from the rooftop.

Disliked: Wild monkeys on the roof. They can be vicious so take care. The staff give you a stick if you want to go to the roof.
