Liked: Great hotel! Scrupulously clean and very cozy and right near the Taj. Best of all, the staff is really helpful with making travel arrangements-- my friend and I never got the sense that we were pressured or being dealt with dishonestly. The staff is very up front about all service charges and seems perfectly happy to help you make your own plans.

Disliked: A few of their drivers pushed a little too hard to take Ius shopping or to "official" guides, but overall nowhere near as badly as at other places I've been.

Liked: Brilliant location for visiting the Taj. Popular restaurant which served great food on their balcony terrace. After a bad stay in Delhi it was a great place to stay. Also had a large number of channels on the TV, towels, soap and toilet roll which we didnt find in our last hostel which was a similar price. Great value for money.

Disliked: nothing - for the money its a great choice

Disliked: Lot of noise in room from traffic, staff and a generator or something Hot water was on and off Ugly smell in room, probably from humidity

Liked: The restaurant is the best.

Disliked: We had a double decker double bad for 4 people next to the kitchen. It was cheap and comfortable, but the early morning noise.....

Liked: Great location for the Taj Mahal, only 5-10minute walk through the park. food in the restaurant was good, if a bit pricey. room was nice and warm as was the shower-sky tv was a bonus. Beware if booking the 4bed dorm room-it is in fact double bunk beds! I've never seen this before, and it seemed rather shakey!

Disliked: The free pickup from the train station was good, but the incessant trying to sign you up to do tours with them the next day was too much-following people into their rooms who were obviously not interested is too far. 10am check out seems a bit early-possibly to get you to sign up for a tour.

Liked: the place is clean and close to those tourist attractions, the roof top resturant is nice. Great place! the free pick up from train station was great too, the autocar drivier has been waiting for us for 2 hours!! (due to train delay), we appreciate all the kindness for him waiting for us. for the 2 days we stayed in Agra, we asked him to drive us around and he gave us a very reasonable price, a great person!

Liked: It was close to the Taj Mahal, it was close to the Taj Mahal. I was travelling with two young children, we ate there and did not get sick, so It is safe to eat there.

Disliked: It was icy cold inside, the food on offer was overpriced, cold and tasteless. The owners were not honest about the prices, they tried hard to get me to go with driver of their choice and get me to shops where they were getting a hefty commision. The promised station pick up did not arrived. I was told by email the pick up is 300 rs, when I got to the hotel myself and spend 250 rupees, they told me it was too much!! They were lying about prices all the time, unfortunately I used their reccomended driver who got me to 'friends' shop and I fell for the scam. Beware, stay away and find yourself a nicer hotel, so you can remember Agra for the right reasons.

Liked: The staff were very helpful, the food and service was good and we would be happy to stay there again.... located perfectly between the Agra Fort and Taj Mahal... very good.

Liked: rooms were nice and clean, stuff was friendly, very nice owner, but the most we loved the restaurant and the food - really delicious. and the hotel is just few minutes walk from the Taj Mahal!! we enjoyed our stay there very much!

Disliked: nothing

Liked: It was a great location located not too far from one of the farther entrances to the Taj. It is close to a lot of local shops as well.

Disliked: I found the employees at reception to not be that warm. The restaurant staff however, were fantastic. I was stuck in a room downstairs with no window, just outside the kitchen so it was a bit noisy and not so pleasant.

Liked: The lokation was great. Right by the Taj Mahal :-)

Disliked: Bad service, and the staf in the reseption had a hard time giving us the free tourist map that they adverticed that they had.. And we had orderd pick up at the trainstation and got it confirmed, but there was no one to pick us up...

Liked: The staff were very helpful, it's very close to the Taj, the bed was comfortable, and turning on the fan drowned out noise from the street quite well. The rooftop restaurant was pretty, and the Indian food there was good, too. Room was decent, sheets seemed clean, towels and soap provided. Also, there is hot water, it just takes a LONG time for it to warm up.

Disliked: The bathroom: it wasn't particularly clean (soap scum on the shelf, looked like the bathtub hadn't been cleaned in a while), and the toilet leaked quite a lot on the floor, so the whole bathroom was soggy. There was a bathtub with a handheld shower, or an overhead shower that sprayed directly onto the toilet. We ended up using the handheld, with the help of the buckets provided (due to lack of pressure).

Liked: Pls note that my review relates to the Ray of Maya Retreat and Resorts that has the same owner as the Maya Hotel and lies directly opposite of it. It was offered to us as an alternative to the Maya Hotel as we arrived at 7am and didnt want to wait for our room to be emptied. Staff was really nice, we got a nice new room with small balcony and view on the Taj dome. All perfect, new and clean. Our double room was 2500 rupees, so for the Agra price level ok. Hotel owner was helpful, and he organsied a driver for us to Jaipur for market price (so unlike most others, he didnt try to rip us off). And MAya restaurant is an ok option for a relaxed meal (though its a bit pricey, but again, its Agra)...

Disliked: Some other rooms which we saw had humidity in the bathroom, but seemed still ok...

Liked: Free taxi from the airport was good aslong as you can brush off the hard sell for a tour of Agra. Resturant has a nice atmosphere going.

Disliked: Our room was a little noicey although we were offered the chance to move after the first night without promting. Also had no natural light although i'm nit-picking really

Liked: Room was spotless and comfortable. Communicating with hotel and arranging pick up was very easy.

Disliked: While I appreciated the staff's assistance in taking me to the station and the Taj Mahal in the morning, I felt pressured to visit local stores, even when I made it clear that I was not interested in either going to or purchasing from the stores.

Liked: Its location, it was very near to the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, a rickshaw could cost about 50-100 rupees.

Disliked: The room smelt of cigarettes because of previous smokers in the room, there was a window in our room that leaked heavily during rain, the tv didnt work, certain staff werent very welcoming although some were very nice.

Liked: Close to the Taj, hot showers, got upgraded to marble bed room for no extra charge, supplied with slingshot to ward off monkeys at breakfast (didn't need to use it in the end, hostel dog was very efficient). Very friendly staff, nice rooftop balcony.

Disliked: No WiFi (internet cafe across the road), restaurant expensive but seems to be the norm in Agra.

Liked: good location, food in the restaurant was ok, air con was nice,bed wasnt too bad, bathroom was reasonably clean

Disliked: all the little men working there hunting for tips, the construction going on made it hard to relax and enjoy some peace (not their fault but still very annoying) restaurant was relatively expensive

Liked: The hotel is small, but within walking distance of the Taj Mahal. Ideal for an early morning visit. The beds are big and reasonably comfortable, and other room facilities good enough. The restaurant is OK.

Disliked: They don't have internet and the one next door wasn't working.
