Fosshótel Laugar is a 2/3 star type Comfort Tourist Class hotel, operated as a summer hotel, which is partly used as a boarding school during the winter. Rooms without facilities and sleepingbag accommodations are basic, while rooms with shower/wc are rather spacious by Scandinavian standard. The rooms are located in four buildings.

The hotel buildings are used as a boarding school from September to May. Laugar is very centrally located to visit Goðafoss waterfall, the whale watching town of Húsavík, Lake Myvatn and Akureyri, as the capital of North Iceland.
