Liked: The location is good, the room was clean, the staff was helpful. Chungking Mansions is an interesting place to stay: It's one building with different hostels on almost every floor; on the groundfloor there are many small shops selling samosas and dvds.

Disliked: We had booked "Calton Hotel" but ended up staying at "Garden Hotel". The owner of "Calton Hotel" seems to own other hostels on other floors. We didn't mind because our room was nice but beware that you might not get what you booked. Don't expect a big room.

Liked: The location was great, you could walk to pretty much anywhere in TST. It's probably one of the cheapest hostels available in HK.

Disliked: There are always a bunch of annoying people trying to sell counterfeit goods. The staff do NOT speak fluent English. Description on this website may be misleading.

Liked: This hostel is very quiet compared to most hotels and hostels. It is secure - the staff has an eye on everybody that is entering the place. The place is very clean and fresh - the room was cleaned every day + new white towels. The beds are big compared to average asian standard (100 cm * 180 cm) and comfortable. Ok, rooms are small but it works - we spent 8 nights on this hostel and got good value of our money. The chinese family owns this and six other hostels in the building. They and their staff are taking care of the customers. They email you after booking and offer to meet you at the entrance of the building to show you the way. There is so much noise and people in the entrance of the building, but no problem, when you get through the last elevator on the left side will take you up to the peace and calm of Carlton.The shopping in Chungking Mansions is good, too. Worth a look around as the prices are very low. Exchange of money has better rates here, too!

Liked: The security is good and the room is quite clean. But location wise is not so suitable for family or lady who is travelling alone as it is located at Chung King Mansion.
