Liked: I was there on Wednesday night, so had very less number of people to share room with me. I liked everything in this hostel - Friendly and helpful staff, value for money, cleanliness, foreign visitors. Compared to my previous stays to hostel in Paris and Amsterdam, I found it far ahead in many aspects.

Liked: Close to Altona train/underground station, its a very convenient location to find public transport

Disliked: No lockers in the dorms, the ones in reception are too small for anything but a laptop.

Liked: Great atmosphere, helpful staff, spacious rooms, separate bathroom and toilet, comfortable beds. All in all, a great stay!

Disliked: Using internet on their computers was charged. But the positives out-weigh that by far!

Liked: In terms of friendly staff, atmosphere, transport connection Meininger is probably as good as any other viable hostel. But what I especially liked is room furniture and planning. I stayed one night in a big dorm and one night in a small one (it was not staff's fault). In both dorms there are bed lanterns, soap/shower gel, and lockers/shelves; toilet and shower are separate. Smaller dorm also has bed curtains. Sleeping bags are just genius (seroiusly, very handy). In both dorms, there is a smaller subroom with two beds - you might like to grab this spot if there are two of you. Everything is EXTREMELY clean and furniture is in mint condition.

Disliked: You can check out at 1 pm instead of 10 am for €5. You cannot amend this time, and considering the fact I got a bed for €10, it may make more sense to book two nights right away. You need to contact a reception to use a lobby computer. I find drop-a-coin system much handier. Atmosphere is like in any other big hostel - people are friendly, but not like anyone cares what you are doing here.

Liked: Easy to reach from airport; just take the S1. Conveniently located behind Altona Station. It was more like a hotel than a hostel! Helpful and professional staff, comfortable beds, 24/7 hot showers, breakfast, and the whole place was very clean.

Disliked: Not the place to meet international travelers. More of a place for German families.

Liked: It was excellent value for money and the location was perfect.

Disliked: Only one toilet and shower per 10 person room is very limited. 2 toilets and 2 showers would be great.

Liked: Excellent value for money. Rooms and beds are ok. Kitchen facilities. Location is not in the centre but Altona area is very nice.

Liked: Great place all around, from accommodations to cleanliness to excellent staff. Excellent value for the low price.

Liked: very clean and new and high spec . we stayed in a 8 person dorm as a group and it was fantastic. lots of space, seperate toliet and bathroom, full lengh mirror and curtains around bed. excellent value for money at 13 euros each a night, and good loacation. would recomend !

Liked: Free wifi in the lobby.

Disliked: Bathroom stunk of urine, only one lift meant long waits, place is a bit run down. Location is terrible for access to the city centre. I'd just stayed at Meininger Berlin which is AMAZING but the Hamburg one is not so great.

Liked: Just stayed for one night. All my needs have been fulfilled. Incredible good value for a bargain.

Liked: This was one of the best hostels I have stayed at yet. It felt more like a hotel. The staff were helpful and the rooms were great. I got the best value for my money at this hostel.

Disliked: I found it difficult on multiple occasions to connect to the wifi. Also, I think they breakfast was a bit pricy at £5.50.
