Liked: It was close to the train.

Disliked: I had booked a double room for me and my wife. When we got to the property there was no one at the front desk, so I had to just talk to someone on the phone. It was very hot, the lift was broken, and my room was on the 5th floor. Instead of just upgrading me to a room that wasn't booked for that night anyway, they made me pay for two VERY over-priced breakfasts (8Euros each) just so that they could put me in a room on the third floor so that I could lug my bags up only three floors and not be baking in the heat on the 5th floor. Anywhere else would have just put me on the 3rd floor without making me pay. I had already paid 50Euros for the room for the night. The owners are so cheap!

Liked: NOTHING!!

Disliked: I stayed here with my wife and friends. My wife and I had one room, and our friends had a second room (which I also had booked). In our room, the "en suite" bathroom was down a common hallway, there was dried food (or at least I hope it was food) splattered all over the wall, and even after the guy at the front desk asked us what time we were checking out and we told him at 10:30am, there was construction on the room right above ours that woke us up at 9am. This was the last day of our Germany trip, and we wanted one good night of sleep before we left for home. He should have told us about the construction the night before so we weren't woken up by repeated loud banging! Then, the room of our friends had a huge section of mold growing on the walls that was about 4 feet long and 2 feet high. It hadn't just shown up there over night as it was thick as well. When we went to the front desk to complain about these things the next morning, the owner insisted that he had known about the planned construction for months, and it was "ridiculous" that we should be asking to not be disturbed in our room all the way until check out. When I told him about the mold, he offered to refund me the price of breakfast (8 euros each for a total of 16 euros, on two rooms i had paid 50 euros each for), but I had to sign a paper saying that I would not give them a bad review. I said forget it, so here is my review! I have stayed in hostels in Ireland, the USA, Canada, all over the UK, and Croatia. I stayed in several hostels in each country. I have never had such a horrible experience.

Liked: It was relatively inexpensive and close to the subway line.

Disliked: They used bait-and-switch tactics on us. On arriving at reception, we were told that our original room was on the 5th floor with no elevator, but if we decided to get their breakfast buffet for 8 Euros per person per day, then we'd get a room on the 3rd floor with a working elevator. Being tired, we gave in, but this is a terrible tactic to use on your customers. Also, you have to pay for the entire breakfast buffet and if you miss a day by sleeping in, you lose your money. Paying by credit card is not possible, since it costs them money. You have to go to an ATM and get cash out for them, though they might give you a discount for doing this if you're irritated by this unprofessional behaviour (as I was). Also, reception speaks no English or German, only Chinese. The English-speaking person is never there in person but has to be reached by phone.

Liked: Location is excellent, 10 minutes to reach the center. There's a fridge in the room.

Disliked: We stayed here for 5 nights and nobody came ever in our room to clean or to change trash or whatever. The room is basically not cleaned itself. This is neither a hostel, because there's no kitchen and you should pay for breakfast, or a hotel, because they should change linen and clean at least a bit the room. Our accomodation was in another building, with an unlocked door as entrance and a corridor with 5 rooms.

Liked: For a start, the hotel was nothing like the reviews on this site (maybe its under new management). The staff were excellent and really friendly. The room was way beyond our expectations, it was very clean and comfortable and felt like a plush hotel room. The room had free wi-fi and a good selection of channels on the television. The location was excellent, the S-bahn was 100m away and the zoo was 100m away also but you could still take the nice walk to the centre as it was so close.

Disliked: There is nothing wrong with this hotel.

Liked: Good location, can walk to nice places and lots of metro stops nearby. Easy to get to airport from here via the s bahn. Good bathroom and shower. Tv in room was good.

Disliked: Bad things include high level of street noise, and noise from neighbouring rooms. Curtains are too light and unsubstantial. Beds were nicely comfortable but creaky! If the staff show you a room that's too hot from sunlight and say that if you pay for breakfast they will upgrade your room for free, it's a scam and they will give you a better room anyway if you say no thanks!

Liked: Basically quite near the metro station, and the atmosphere around the dorm was not bad. There was a penny-store and several sandwich restaurant around too, though the decoration and facilities of the dorm rooms were soso.

Liked: Upon arrival we were told that our reserved rooms werent suitable adn we could upgrade to new room if we also paid for breakfast. We didnt want this option but it was pushed on us a few times. We were then put in other rooms and told that his was almost a favour. All a bit confusing really.
