Liked: The rooftop view of the Nile was wonderful although the pool was closed during winter (my friend's would have liked a dip). The staff were friendly and helpful, the prices for tours were reasonable and the breakfast was simple but there was plenty of food. Rooms were clean and the view was fabulous.

Disliked: No wifi, quite noisy as it is close to the main road.

Liked: The view, easy to organise trip to Abu Simbel, clean, cheap

Disliked: Style of bathroom meant water goes all over the floor, quite cold at night although blankets were provided. Not easy to meet other people.

Liked: The hotel is cheap and we got a good price for the tours we took. We had excellent view over the Nile.

Disliked: The hotel could do with a lick of paint but is very clean. You will have trouble finding the entrance. Its round the back!

Liked: Good location, room was clean, came with a fridge, drinks and snacks were the only reasonable price in Aswan. Breakfast was just egg, bread, cheese and jam with coffee or tea, but they did a really nice job of making it nice and weren't stingy, you got your own pot of coffee/tea and they offered us more cheese and stuff without even having to ask. Staff was reasonably helpful.

Disliked: Bathroom door didn't close in our room, which in Egypt can be kind of awkward. We did laundry there and the clothes didn't seem to be exactly clean. Tours there were expensive there, can get better prices for feluccas and cruises by walking down to the Nile, and got a better price for transportation to Abu Simbel from Horus Hotel about one block away. We offered to pay the hotel the same price we found there, and they were adamant about their prices, so we took the cheaper option.

Liked: They have nice view to see Nile river. It's about 15 to 20mins to walk from the train stations. Good offer for money to go to Abu Sibel in a day.

Disliked: Need to go up stair and they don't have a lift. It's not easy with the heat 50 degree in Aswan sometimes.

Liked: Good value, close to Nile, good views, the lady who works at reception was very helpful.

Disliked: Ahmed at the front desk will try to sell over priced train tickets - best to talk to other staff members if possible. Swimming pool was empty in July.

Liked: Good prices for their transportation services. Very clean and they gave us a room with a beautiful view in th Nile...Very romantic!!!

Liked: We found the Memnon to be a well run and organised hotel and were suprised at the bad reviews. Sure it needs a lick of paint like most Egyptian hotels but the staff were professional, rooms regularly cleaned, secure, hot drinks available all day were fair local prices, nice big lounge with good view. Tour prices very reasonable (120EGP for 2 day felucca with food and bus to Luxor). Excellent location and fabulous views from the rooftop. Top tip there are 2 very cheap food places when you come out of the hotel (back) entrance walk past the 2 restaurants, there is a Koshary house on the right (2 pasta and drinks 18EGP) and on the left a kebab house (chicken shawerma 10EGP), also nearly opposite the hotel exit is an internet cafe.

Disliked: It's not perfect but it is not awful either.

Liked: We did have a good view of the Nile from our room and the location was central. It was possible to quickly arrange a trip to some of the sights for a good price.

Disliked: It was not clean and the rooms were noisy (this was due to the road in front so was not any fault of the hostel). The driver on the trip was unhelpful and not at all friendly.

Liked: The owner was very kind and helpful. all the staffs were very friendly too. The location is great, face to the Nile and near to the KFC! The hotel offer felucca trip and boat trip at very reasonable prices! Recommended!

Disliked: they dont hv a hair dryer!!!

Disliked: The bathroom and bedsheets are not clean enough. I really felt uncomfortable living there.

Liked: Staff were helpful with booking tours though push their own agendas onto you. This caused us to miss out on some things we wanted to see as we were told they were closed when really they were not.

Disliked: Not very prompt in their pick up times for the tours. make you get up at 2am only to spend the next hour picking up other guests before you actually depart. The mattresses no longer have any sort of spring or padding... the floor would be more comfy. The breakfast box they give you for abu simbel is very basic.
