Hostería La Barquita a -Swiss-run Hostel in Puerto Rico, 15 Km to South of Puerto López, the best place to relax and adventure on the Ecuadorian Coast. You'll enjoy nature at its best: beautiful lonely beaches, rivers with dry and tropical forest, whale-watching, horseback riding, surfing, etc.

This Ecuador beach hotel is run by Patrick Pecaut (a Swiss national who has lived in Ecuador for many years) and his family. It lies between Guayaquil and Manta close to the Machalilla National Park, on the beach by the village of Puerto Rico (15km to south of Puerto Lopez)

The Ecuador Hotel La Barquita offers you 14 comfortable rooms facing the sea, in different beach cabins . We also have 4 low-budget traveler rooms with shared baths and hot water (hostel). Our guests can enjoy the covered terraces and relax in cozy hammocks.

You'll enjoy going to Isla de la Plata the mini Galapagos Island all year long, and get to almost touch the humpack Whale (from June to September), do some horseback riding, bird watching, snorkeling, fishing, etc.

For your entertainment we have a pool table, board games, satellite TV, a ping-pong table, a volleyball play field and of course; the beach and the jungle just a few steps away…

Our Ecuador coast restaurant offers a great choice of delicious menus even for the most exigent gourmet. Enjoy our local Ecuadorian cuisine that is prepared with fresh and natural ingredients without neglecting our tasty vegetarian and international meals.

Our bar will give you the chance to choose out of various creative and delicious drinks and cocktails while playing a game of pool, listening to music…or while watching a wonderful sunset, seated in the front deck of ‘The Barquita’.

The Pacific Ocean is right there. On our latitude the water is always warm and welcomes visitors to practice a great variety of water entertainment such as swimming, diving, snorkeling, surfing and much more….

Accommodation Information

We offer 18 rooms:
4 Matrimonials suites (private superior) in small cabins with A/A, satellite TV, Queen Size bed, small terrace with hammock and private bathroom with hot water.
10 family rooms (up to six persons) with private bathroom and hot water each one with double beds and single beds small terrace with hammock.
4 dorm rooms each with 2 double bed and 2 shared bathroom with hot water small terrace and hammock.
All our rooms have either sea view or exotic garden view.

Located on the Ecuadorian coast, right in front of the Pacific Ocean on a great virgin and unspoiled beach, probably one of the nicest of all Ecuador.
We're in the middle of the villages called Puerto Rico & Las Tunas between Puerto Lopez and Montañita, 2 1/2 hours north of Guayaquil major city or 2 hours south of Manta.
