Liked: Good location, private room for a reasonable price, and the view from the balcony was very good

Disliked: Rooms were very hot and stuffy without aircon and the beds were very unconfortable, and the feel coffee wasn't very nice.

Liked: Very reasonably priced and kitchen was well equipped....

Disliked: When checking out the staff person had a difficult time doing calculations. Unfortunitely I did not print the total reservation , only the reference/booking number, which was not even required. After the fact, I discovered the initial deposit was not use in the calculation of total cost and thus not discounted. The roon was not cleaned during the 2 day stay, Main concern was toilet paper left in the waste basket.

Liked: Nice location, great price, pleasant and helpful staff, large selection of tours.

Disliked: Limited range on the wifi, pillows were rather lumpy.

Liked: Very basic accomadations but good value for the money. Great location with gorgeous view of volcano.

Disliked: No breakfast provided. Sheets not on all beds, had to ask for sheets.

Liked: very cheep, very nice family running this business. they can book you every attraction or shuttle you'd like... also you get an amazing view to the Arenal...

Liked: Easy walk from bus station and supermarkets and shops were close to the hotel.

Disliked: Too many mosquitoes in the bathroom.

Liked: The hotel was cheap and very nice. The staff were super friendly and could help you with anything. They offer different tours and activities and the supermarket is just a few blocks away.

Disliked: The kitchen was a bit dirty.

Liked: Good price for your private room, tour desk at hand when you needed, nice staff and easygoing. Just outside town soo its not that much nosie

Disliked: Woke up sometimes early mornings when other guests did go up and went on tours and what not

Liked: They stay was fantastic. For the price we expected something extremely basic. Hotel Dorothy surpassed everything we expected. Put into perspective, of course this isnt a Hilton...etc. The rooms were a good size, nice and airy. The communal porch area had rocking chairs, a couple of picnic table, wifi and a spectacular view of the volcano. Downstairs there is a communal kitchen. It is a 5 minute walk from the bus station and the hotel is a 2 minute walk from town. Our stuff was safely locked in our rooms and we felt safe walking the little town at any time. they offer laundry services and sell bottled water and soda downstairs. And of course you cant beat the price. They offer excursions at fantastic prices and we were able to book 2 of them for the 3 days we were there. We were also able to book transportation back to San Jose. The staff was so incredible, and thats an understatement. Alejandria was amazing and so helpful! I would recommend this for anyone staying in La Fortuna. Thanks for a great stay Hotel Dorothy!

Liked: Great place to book tours, cheaper and good quality. A tour company is based at the hotel which runs volcano and hot spring tours. They were cheaper than other places. Close to town, but on a quiet street. Cheap and pretty comfortable.

Disliked: Advertised with hot water which our room didn't have, although it was pretty hot so it didn't really matter. Advertised with optional $2 breakfast, but we were told they don't offer it after we made a reservation.

Liked: Everything...the whole staff, the location, the ambiance, the helpfulness and friendliness of everyone there, and the pretty color of downstairs! Fell in love with the all the people and met several charming fellow travelers that I continued to travel with! Very sorry to leave Dorothy; best hostel experience I've had. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Liked: Close to town, and the staff was very helpful with restaurant suggestions and booking tours.

Disliked: We were there during the town's annual festival, which was across the street. They were blasting music until midnight, so it might not be the best place to stay then.

Liked: Location was amazing but most of all the staff there was ABOVE AND BEYOND! Listen to their advice, they tell you all the best places, give you the best deals, and are absolutely the nicest people ever! You cannot go wrong with Hotel Dorothy... best value for your money in all of Costa Rica! Cannot wait to go back!

Disliked: I understand it's a hostel, I do. However... I would love some better pillows and a slightly more effective fan.... It is under new management and you can tell they're making a lot of changes and upgrades. By the time we go back next year I'm sure half the concerns will be alleviated.

Liked: Good setting, nice balcony area to sit in, near the town.

Disliked: There was an extra 'laundry charge' of $8 that we were only told about when we checked out.
