Disliked: The staff made us feel uncomfortable, you had to ring a bell to enter the hotel & they got annoyed if you came and went frequently.

Liked: Nothing -- it was a terrible experience!

Disliked: First, we were stopped by a police officer before we came in. He was in his patrol car and said, "I don't know about this hostel in particular, but be sure not to leave anything valuable in this neighborhood." Talk about a vote of confidence. Then we went inside. It smelled awful. We checked in late from a flight (2 am) and there was music on down the hallway that was so loud that we had a hard time hearing the guy at the desk. They didn't have our reservation, didn't know how much the rooms were per night (what??) and when we finally did get rooms, they were untidy. One of the rooms had unmade beds and spots all over the sheets. We got that room changed but none of us dared sleep in the beds after that. We ended up sleeping on top of the blankets and sleeping very poorly. In addition to just generally feeling gross, the rooms felt unsafe -- there were locks, but the doors were so old that it felt like someone could push the door open forcefully even if it was locked. The next morning, the woman who owned the hostel was there. She was nice enough, but it took us over an hour to check out (and I speak fluent French). When we finally DID get checked out, she had us pay $300 -- and the Hostelbookers.com website said that all we would owe them was $203. Quite a difference. By that point we wanted out so badly that we just did it, but it felt like they were making up the prices on the spot. The location was in a shady area, as mentioned above, and absolutely no one there spoke English. That was fine, but not what we expected. We ended up leaving and going to a different hostel. I wouldn't recommend this hostel to anyone EVER.
