Liked: Everything. The couple that run the place are lovely. They go out of there way to make you feel welcome. The place is spotless clean. Great HOT showers, nice HUGE comfy bed, wonderful breakfast. David even took us to the bus station when we asked for a taxi. Good hearted people, lovely place. nice pets, bicycles to get around town on. Wifi in all the rooms.

Liked: Clean, large, spacious rooms. Staff went out of their way to be helpful and make suggestions for ways to spend your time in Paraty. Breakfast was gorgeous with a great selection and plenty of fresh fruit. David, the owner, was even kind enough to organise an early brekfast for us on the day we were leaving. The Location is very good and it is only a short walk into town where you pass some very nice and chepaer restaurants.

Liked: Best place we stayed on our 7 month trip. Fantastic breakfast. Owners are very friendly. The place was spotless. The rooms are large and airy and made up everyday. Wifi included.

Liked: The most relaxing place we´ve stayed yet. The owners are very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was amazing and the accommodation itself was super spacious and very clean and welcoming. We loved afternoon tea in the most relaxing chill out area, reminded us of home! Also fab swimming pool. Thanks David & Jimena for a perfect stay.

Disliked: Some people may dislike the fact its a 20 minute walk to the town centre. However we found this a positive as it was tucked away in a quiet area, and the walk to town can be done along the river which was very picturesqe.

Liked: This is a really great place to stay. We came here from a terrible hostel in Rio (Eco Backpackers) and arriving at Pousada Guarana was amazing! The rooms are lovely, large, clean and well equipped. The communal areas are fantastic as well, with a great pool area and dining room. The breakfasts were amazing, with homemade cakes and lots of fresh fruit. More than anyhting, we found the owners and staff to be incredibly kind and helpful. This was the best place that we stayed in over a month in Brazil. Highly recommended!

Liked: The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. They really went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our time in Paraty and in all of Brazil. The location was great too. It is about a 15 minute walk to the center of town or a 5 minute bike ride. They have bikes you can borrow at the Pousada to take to town. The pousada was also very clean and safe to walk around at night.

Disliked: Nothing. The place was great!

Liked: Absolutely beautiful place to stay. David & Jimena are the perfect hosts, the breakfast is amazing, big king size bed, hot showers, and set in the most incredible surroundings. Only a 15 minute safe walk to the 'city' - which is great if you're a female lone traveller like me. MOre like a boutique bed & breakfast than a hostel to be honest!!!!! I would definitely recommend and am already planning my next trip back.

Liked: Things we like about Pousada Guarana in no particular order:1. It is a family owned Pousada, and therefore there is alot of care and attention paid by staff (the owners were away during our stay) to guests and to the furnishings of the room and the atmosphere of the place. For example, Gustav always met us to close the gates after were entered the Pousada with our bikes, the breakfast staff cooked us egg omelettes everyday upon our request2. It felt safe and secure3. We could communicate easily in English4. There was free wi-fi5. Breakfast was fresh and included fruit everyday

Disliked: 1. Distance from the historic town centre where most of the eating options were located (although pretty much all of the options there were overly salty and over priced). This was minimised by use of the bikes which took us only 5 mins compared to the normal 20 min by foot. Distance only became an issue when we were hungry and it was raining! 2. Can't control the temperature of the shower although I think that is the case for most of Rio de Janeiro. Showers were warm however. 3. Some people have issues with the number of dogs there (there are 6 of them) but if you're not afraid of dogs in general, they really add value to the place by making it more entertaining with their antics. We probably only saw 3 dogs maximum at a time and they were all friendly and calm.

Liked: The most helpful staff I have ever come across, which more than makes up for their location. Fabulous breakfasts, immaculate and tastefully designed rooms and common areas all make for one of the best stays we have ever had!

Liked: This is a lovely Pousada an amazingly relaxed homely feeling. The owner David and staff were extremely helpful and we instantly felt so calm and relaxed after a long bus ride from Sao Paulo. It is located a good 20 minute walk from the old town, they have bicycles to use but as it was raining, we walked. They did provide us with umbrellas to use however. Overall, the best place we stayed on our 2 week holiday in brazil.

Liked: this place is run by people who know exactly what they are doing, their communication skills are perfect-great source of information-their breakfast very attractive-bedrooms are of very high quality-large rooms and high ceilings=swimming pool available-we felt really at home here=would recommend this pousada to our best friends. H+H

Liked: We liked the fact that the location was away from the old town. This allowed us to escape and get away from the hustle for a good nights sleep. The owners were genuinely interested in good hospitality which made our stay very comfortable. Rooms are big, clean and very well resourced. Ideal location for couples and an excellent choice!

Liked: This pousada was one of the best we've stayed in during our 6 months in South America and we can't recommend it highly enough, The room was large and comfortable, the hosts were friendly and full off useful information, and the breakfasts were delicious.It is out of the old town. However, this is not a bad thing as the walk to town is pleasant and passes local shops and restaurants that you would otherwise miss, plus it is quiet at night so you get a good nights sleep.Pousada Guarana is an excellent place to relax and enjoy Paraty.
