Liked: Awesome garden, very artistic atmosphere. It's by the watyerfalls. Good shower facilities and clean. A place not only for sleeping but hanging out and chilling. No WIFI yet. Breakfast average.

Liked: Claus is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are beautiful and very rustic with balcony's and hammocks. Breakfast is lovely with great eggs. Only downside is the walk up to the pousada from the town as its quite a steep hill but because of this the pousada is quiet and peaceful. Claus has a great per kilo restaurant down in the main town.

Liked: This place is great. Amazing breakfasts - cake, fruit, eggs and juices - and the host Claus is really helpful. Beautiful setting by a waterfall (with a stream you can swim in) pristine rooms and good chill areas with hammocks etc. Not a party hostel, great place to relax. Only drawback was no guest kitchen, but otherwise would totally recommend it.

Liked: This is the best place we have stayed during our whole time in southern america! The rooms are beautiful and get cleaned every day with fresh sheets and towels!!! All rooms have their own terrace in a beautiful garden and also the breakfast is great with scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, jam, fresh fruit juice, coffee, fruits, etc. I really recommend this place!!!!

Liked: really really nice accommodation - the owner hasn~t forgotten his german routes as everything is spotless, tastefully and expertly furnished, the location is great with a beautiful garden, stream, huge rooms..... i cant fault this place at all and would recommend it to anyone, although as a single traveller, id recommend it more to couples or groups of friends than solos...... it really is the best place on the island though

Liked: Lovely garden, and proximity to waterfall after which it is named. Decent, spacious bedrooms. Those who like quiet places will appreciate that it´s situated on a hill above the noise of the town centre. It does help if you like cats---there are 8 of them!

Liked: The owner, Klaus, is both very helpful and a very nice man who takes time to ensure you're enjoying your stay and getting the most out of your trip. Sitting in a hammock with the soothing sound of the nearby waterfall nearby was truly a relaxing experience. This is definitely a place for cat lovers as there are so many on site, all are very friendly. The hostel isn't gigantic and the rooms are nicely spaced to make you feel comfortable during your stay. The place is laid out well, and we ended up feeling very refreshed after staying. Klaus also owns the Biergarten on the island which is a kilo restaurant and bar. It was also a nice place to visit, though due to the bad weather when we stayed, was a bit too quiet.

Liked: ended up staying 1 week. very peaceful. not a place for meeting people. its out of the way but that makes it quiet and relaxing. loved lying in our hammock with the sound of the waterfall/river in the back ground. great for couples. the owner very willing to help

Liked: Like other reviews say; yes it is a bit of a steep walk to the hostel and there are quite a few cats, but it is all still worth it to stay there. The hostel was lovely and staff extra friendly and helpful. The photos of the hostel don´t do it justice. The hostel is lovely and in a great setting in the rainforest where you can hear waterfalls around you. The rooms are lovely, and very clean. Breakfast is also great, with yummy scrambled eggs, which were a lovely bonus to us. I would definately stay hear again.

Liked: Claus is an German hippy who cares for his guests without being intrusive. He also owns the best vegetarian (though there's meat available) option restaurant on the island. The location some way up the hill is a few minutes from the main drag, which, as well as the already chilled out environment at Cachoeira, keeps the feel removed and relaxed. Where you eat brekky is great, and the Ilha is amazingly relaxed and untouched by development. Really good.

Liked: if you hate cats dont go here. i like cats so it was fine, there are about 10 that lounge around the beautiful garden. the hostel is run by Claus von stroke who lives around the corner. there is a nice patio area where breakfast is served including cereal, fruit and hot water, hot milk, coffee and hot chocolate. its surrounded by the forest which adds to the atmosphere. my only drawback was that it was further away than all the other places to stay, up a steep(ish) path. but is much nicer than some of the gritty hostels on the island. no internet but there is access in the village center. one of the double rooms is in a new converted roof, nice and modern with amazing air con! (essential)

Liked: The pousada was clean and attractive and situated in a great location - we felt like we were having our breakfast in the middle of the jungle every day but were only minutes from the centre of town. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful.

Liked: If you don't mind a short walk uphill from the beach this is the place to go. A very beautiful garden to relax, if you are tired of the sun and the amazing beaches on the island. If i go again to the island, this is the place where i will stay again, no doubts.
