Liked: I am a travel writer staying in Hostels around the world and Space Hotel is an excellent place. I have not found a hostel yet like it and I have been on every continent through hundreds of countries. However, there is one exception....

Disliked: My one and only dislike is the fact that there is no plates, bowels, forks, basic knives or little in the way of cookware in the kitchen. You are required to "RENT" the plates and other items to eat with for a deposit of 20 AUD. It might not be so bad except the supposed secure lockers in the eating and cooking area do not lock or at least 50% did not when I was there and the hotel will not be responsible if your "RENTED" plates and things are stolen which means you lose your deposit. They need to fix the storage lockers then your things will remain safe. Come on Space Hotel, no other Hostel on the planet that I have encountered is so cheap that they require a deposit for the plates, glasses, bowels, forks or other things that are needed to eat a cooked meal.

Liked: The hotel was located just down from Lygon St, Carlton, and close to the city. The place was clean, the staff were good, happy and friendly. The gym was enough, and the showers/toliet were clean.

Disliked: The only thing was that with 6 people in my room, when I walked in, it smelt a bit, .. no external ventilation, .. didn't bother me that much as I didn't report it, ... but it was noticeable - some people may have objection to this.

Liked: Excellent facilities especially the cinema and kitchen. Large spacious, modern rooms with large individual lockers, plug sockets and lights. Located a short walk from Melbourne's main streets and very close to a free tram stop. One of the best hostels ive ever stayed at.

Disliked: the bar advertised drinks deals and when you went they were 'no longer available'- happened several times during my stay

Liked: Hot Tub!! Cleanliness, private showers, comfy beds, cinema - facilities are superb

Disliked: Not much of a community atmosphere like smaller hostels (suppose thats not the hostels fault!) Frying pans in kitchen were mishaped and not very good - i expected better

Liked: Great staff, easy commute to and from the airport, not noisy or disruptive- I will return!

Liked: It was more a hotel than a hostel, with quiet facilities and friendly patrons and staff. It was a travelers dream.

Disliked: Nothing, but the fire alarm wake up calls.

Liked: Large lockers, small shelf next to bed with power outlets and a light, key card access to everything so it's quite safe, location makes it easy to get around the CBD.

Disliked: Lacking character, some staff were quite rude and seemed unhappy.

Liked: Great facilities, small details like a big locker, light in each bed, plugs beside the bed made it ideal if you are backpacking

Disliked: The water from the showers do not drain correctly so there is mold in the bathroom.

Liked: Space Hotel was a little pricier than a normal Hostel, but that is because you pay for brand new facilities and one of the best CBD locations in Melbourne. I travelled and stayed at the Space for work, and loved it.

Disliked: All good.

Liked: Great value for money, nice and clean, great location and the bar downstairs was a bargain! Would deffinatley stay again.

Disliked: I can't think of anything that really bothered me. Filtered cold water as well as hot in the kitchenette would have been good but that didnt exactly ruin it for me :)

Liked: Very central & easy to get to Lygon Street, Bourke street mall & federation Square.

Disliked: The bedroom doors were so heavy & annoying because they "slammed" shut every time someone went to use the bathroom... The bathrooms were so wet & horribly unclean...I found tampons on the floor in one of them. I thought that it was extremely expensive for our 2 night stay....given that we had to share awful bathrooms!

Liked: Everything about the place was great! It was a few minutes walk down the street to get to the main shopping area and there are local attractions in every direction as well as a free City Circle tram just around the corner. On top of that; the staff were really friendly and helpful, the rooms were all clean and nice, you get big lockers with 3 powerpoints, shelves and a reading light, the bathrooms were good, the wifi was relatively cheap and there is a movie room, gym, relaxation room, big kitchen, laundry facilities and an excellent 8th floor roof deck with a hot tub. It has everything! I ended up extending my stay a few more nights because I was so impressed.

Disliked: There wasn't a lot of atmosphere and people didn't really seem to interact outside of their pre-made social groups. Possibly more to do with the people staying in the hostel than anything the hostel itself could do.

Liked: Great for people looking for apartments in Melbourne for temporary stay or highclass backpackers. This is place is great, clean, staff are very nice and helpful, great placement and all around great. Indoor gym was great too.

Disliked: This place is a little too rich for my blood to stay at again. I would be happier with a smaller clean hostel that costed less. Also alcohol is not allowed anywhere. You have to buy it from the bar below for $4 a glass and sit in. It would be best if it was allowed in the eating place at least (better would be the sky patio). No alcohol on site.

Liked: locality and Bar/food

Disliked: The electronic card reader did not work reliably, our room was directly outside the ( room 311) the only toilet on the block, (continual usage (all night) made sleeping extremely difficult, fair too noisy, The actual showers/toilets didn't appear clean.

Disliked: Very noisy doors,banging when closed so sleeping was hard.Poor drainage in bathroom/water pooling near toilet floor.

Liked: Excellent location, great room - Loved the bathroom! It was excellent for my friends & I to ready in, very spacious. The happy hours were also great - $5 pizza's were delicious.

Disliked: Don't think there was anything we disliked.
