Liked: It is beyond our expectation as a backpacker accommodations. The room was spotless clean, 2 thick pillows on each bed with well tucked comforter. It has TV in the room, great for the kids. Fantastic location, minutes away from Swanston St. Greeted with a warm smile from the front desk officer. Thumps up to Vic Hall!

Disliked: Would be perfect to have in-house parking facilities.

Liked: It is a very nice mix between Hostel and Hotel, the rooms are brand new and really nice. Very good value for the money!!

Disliked: The bathrooms are a bit like in a trainstation, not very cozy, but clean!

Liked: It was easy to check in and out.

Disliked: I thought I had booked a female only room and when I got there I was bunking above a man. This was unexpected and not appreciated.

Liked: Clean, cool, comfortable

Disliked: Unhelpful staff who try to be friendly but make no effort to go out of their way to help you. No communal atmosphere. No rooftop terrace during stay. Very hostile, individualistic feel...

Disliked: Exterior of building is not well sign posted, looks like abandoned building because of the construction and small signage.

Liked: The staff were very friendly and helpful even for the smallest issues. Nothing was too much trouble for them including when we asked to be moved rooms due to the construction downstairs. 5* to everyone including the domestic staff in helping with directions etc.

Disliked: The website said there would be construction noise between 0700 & 1600: I guess I didn't realise how noisy living next to a construction site would be. I would definitely go back there AFTER construction is over

Liked: Nice rooms, tidy facilities (those not under rebuilding of some sort).

Disliked: The rebuilding. Noisy and annoying. No free WiFi.

Liked: im have been to lots of places...and lots of hostels ( despite my age )...and this place is always rated number one by me. i always stay at Vic Hall when in melbourne. hate it if they are full. roy ringrose

Liked: Loved everything, the beds, big rooms, fab showers, hugh cinema room and soooooo clean

Disliked: Would have loved to use the rooftop garden but getting renovated at mo. Just means i have to go back when all the works finished :)

Liked: property was nice. i had own locker, towel, book light and little shelf.

Disliked: cleanliness!!! i had 7 bag bites on my legs...and my friend got as many as me. i believe it is because the sheets were not really clean. invisible insect must have been there... basically i put much emphasis on cleanliness when i stay in the hostel. that's why i rated so bad.

Liked: The rooms were modern and spacious, with huge individual lockers. Facilites were clean throughout.

Disliked: The staff couldn't be more rude. They do a great job making you feel as if you're disturbing them with a simple question. No free Internet, no breakfast, not enough room in the kitchen.

Liked: The facilities, games room, movie room... The key card security features and the nice renovated rooms makes me forget that i'm in a hostel until i realize there's 5 other people in the room.

Disliked: Undergoing renovations currently. Once i wake up in the morning about 9am i cant go back to slp.

Disliked: We stayed there 3 nights and nobody came to do the room, nor change the towels !

Liked: Excellent location

Disliked: Currently undergoing refurbishment, which wasn't mentioned when we booked online, so half of the place was literally a building site, with building work starting about 7am - EARLY after a night out! They have a *temporary* kitchen in place, which is a bit small and grubby. Once the renovations have been done, the place will be vastly improved though, to be fair; new kitchen and they are adding a rooftop restaurant and spa area.
