Clean, comfortable and secure, Kalulu Backpacker's Hostel is perfectly located close to the bus and rail stations, two of Lusaka's largest shopping malls, and the city centre. With a mix of dorm beds, private rooms, and camping, we have accommodation to suit everyone.

Accommodation Information

We have a mixture of dorm beds, private rooms and camping. In the rooms, bed linen is provided and towels are available for a $5 refundable deposit. All bathroom facilities are shared.

Two of the hostels rooms are located in a separate cottage at the rear of the property which comes eqipped with its own shower, toilet and small kitchen - perfect for families or for long-term volunteers.

Dorms
All our dorm beds come with a large personal locker which is designed to fit your own padlock for your security and peace of mind. A girls only dorm is available. The largest of our dorms contains just six beds.

Private rooms
There is one double and one triple room at the hostel.

Camping
Our campsite is in a quiet corner of the garden but close to the shower block and communal kitchen.

24-hour check in is available. Please arrange this with us beforehand if you are arriving after 23.00 or before 07.00.

Kalulu Backpackers Lusaka is located on Briads Road, just off Bwinjimfumu Road. We are just ten minutes walk from the Intercity Bus Station and the City Centre. Manda Hill Shopping Centre is within walking distance of the hostel and is also accessible by minibus from the Great East Riad, as is Arcades Shopping Centre. The nearest market is at Northmead, a short walk away, where you can find food, bars and even do some souvenier shopping.

The bustling chaos of Lusaka city has been described as having a charm that is just Zambia. Although a bit short on the typical tourist attractions, the capital offers plenty for those looking to explore the everyday sights and sounds of an African city as well as providing some welcome home comforts you might be missing from life on the road. Our staff will be happy to give you directions or organize transport for you. They can also provide recommendations to local restaurants and bars.
