We offer fabulous value for money!
The Old School Hostel offers 4 star quality at 2 star prices! Our shared accommodation offers unbeatable prices in small dormitories sleeping 4 to 6 people and private doubles and twins are from only £15 per person.

We're situated in a stunning National Park and are just a short stroll from the world famous Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
We're 15 minutes away from St. Davids
Minuscule St. Davids, the smallest city in Wales is only a short drive away and there are regular buses too. Renowned for its beautiful and ancient cathedral and relaxed, laid back atmosphere, St. Davids is also fast becoming a culinary hot-spot with its many cafes and restaurants that suit all budgets.
There are great beaches nearby
Famous Whitesands Bay, one of the best beaches in South Wales is about a 20 minute drive from us. Whitesands is a well loved surfing beach and great for families too. There are also some lovely secluded sandy bays on our stretch of coast, some of which are only accessible on foot.
We're comfortable and characterful
The Old School is an ex YHA hostel opened in 1968 and closed by them as uneconomic in 2006. Now up and running as an independent we're celebrating its 40th year with a major refurbishment and have added a cosy lounge area, extra showers, private rooms and re carpeted and redecorated throughout. We're dead chuffed that the tourist board have rewarded us for our efforts and we're now a 4 star hostel.
Free internet access
Stay in touch with friends and family with free Internet access in the lounge.
We are a short stroll from the village pub
We're in the centre of Trefin, an attractive cliff top village about half way between St. Davids and the ferry port of Fishguard/Goodwick. Mike and Meriel run The Ship, our congenial local pub. Lunch times and evenings 7 days a week they serve up hearty portions of good value pub grub including favorites like Pembrokeshire pork and leek sausages and steak and ale pie.
We're a great budget Bed and Breakfast option- B & B from £16 per person
With bed and breakfast averaging double our prices we're a great budget choice if your'e looking for B&B in beautiful Pembrokeshire. Our optional breakfast of muesli, cereal or our special walkers porridge, plus tea or coffee, orange juice, toast and jam or marmalade uses mostly organic, local and fair trade produce and is only £5 per person.
We are an eco hostel- one of the greenest places to stay in wales
We try to do our bit and a bit more by recycling and composting 90% of our rubbish and we've signed up with 'Ecotricity' who supply us with 100% renewable energy. We also plant a tree for every booking made. Help create a forest for the future - come and stay!
Our part of Pembrokeshire is a mecca for water sports
We're not far from Newgale and Whitesands, 2 great surfing beaches which are popular with wind and kitesurfers too and around St. David's are some of the UKs finest sea kayaking areas.
...Or try the clssic three day coast walk
Here's what the Lonely Planet guide says about our fabulous stretch of coast...'The coast from St. Davids to Fishguard is far less touristy than southern Pembrokeshire. The coves and beaches, if they're accessible at all, are reached by winding lanes and footpaths. If you're only going to walk part of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, this is an excellent section to tackle. On the way are some splendidly located hostels and numerous farmhouse B&Bs.'
We couldn't have put it better ourselves! So please don't hesitate to contact us and we'll help you plan an unforgettable 3 day taster of one of the best of Britain's long distance trails.
We're a great get away from it all location
It's a fast paced world out there but things move at a different speed down in our part of the country and you'll soon find yourself adjusting to 'Pembrokeshire time'. People say its like Cornwall used to be 30 years ago and even in high summer it's easy to escape the crowds and find a secluded beach or walk for miles on the cliff tops and meet hardly a soul. There are no traffic jams and locals will take time to have a chat with you in the shops. The hostel itself is a great place to relax - curl up with a good book on one of our comfy sofas in the lounge or enjoy chatting over a glass of red with friends in the stylish dining area with its beautiful Renie Macintosh chairs. There's no TV but we guarantee you won't miss it! The emphasis here is on rest and relaxation - we don't accept stag or hen party bookings I'm afraid but if it's an escape from the stresses and strains of modern life you're seeking then head our way.
The small print stuff:
Please note that some of our double beds are a cosy 4 feet wide, a little narrower than a standard british bed (see photo). Please contact us if you'd prefer a larger bed.
Reception is open for Check-In from 5pm to 10pm. Please give us a call if you will arrive later than 9.30 pm.
