Liked: We very much appreciated the welcome, hospitality and the accommodation provided - which were well beyond our expectations. It's a delightful place with character and atmosphere. We are hoping to come back in late spring/early summer next year.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike whatsoever - a great place.

Liked: Steve is what makes Hamilton Backpackers Lodge! To be welcomed in off the coastal path after a long hike on a wet, rainy day with such friendliness (and a cup of tea) was brilliant. My friend and I loved our stay here.

Disliked: I didn't dislke anything at all.

Liked: Staying at this property was more like being a guest in someone's home than staying in a hostel, and we liked it that way. The owner was was warm, welcoming, and helped us make travel arrangements around the area. The home-like kitchen and dining area allowed us to interact and feel comfortable with the other guests. We give it a rave review!

Disliked: We had no complaints. The facilities were great.

Liked: Pretty much everything: it's small but not too small, very cosy, with a beautiful backyard, a nice kitchen and two lounges; the rooms are pretty and the beds are very comfortable; the bathroom is big and the shower is really good; is really near the town centre and the bus station. It's one of the best hostel I've ever been to, and I felt at home right from the start.

Liked: steve, the owner is a great and very friendly guy who creates a very special atmosphere at his place. he cares for his guests and welcomes them in his house like a friend. this backpacker really is a home away from home and its great to have such a place to come back to after a day full of adventure. theres a help yourself breakfast, coffee and tea available at all times which is a great service, a nice kitchen and a cosy lounge with internet acess,nice rooms with good matresses and its really quiet at night. a great and lovely place to stay!!

Liked: Everything.It's the best hostel i've ever stayed in my whole journey of wales and england..Steve,the owner, is the nicest guy i ever met in my life.Though i was actually so far away from my home , i felt the warm atmosphere of home in the hostel.

Liked: I wish i could have stayed longer. The place has a great vibe: Steve and the others are very friendly and very helpful (gave me some great advice on finding accomodation for my travels further north). There is wifi through the whole building, and it feels a lot like you're sharing someone's home more than a hostel. There are computers, books, games, TV and good company all readily available.

Disliked: No lockers in rooms for valuables and doors didn't lock by themselves. If this is fixed I'd feel more secure.

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: An arrogant, comtemptuous attitude is summed up by a notice on the wall that says "Be nice or leave". What this means is "Give in to the bullying of the warden or you can sleep on the streets" I was told I could clear off if I didn't sleep in the lounge where I'd been put for full price. Astonishingly this was deemed "reasonable" by the warden and he got very aggresive about it when I wasn't too sure. It seems that by taking the bed I'd booked in advance after midnight on the day of arrival I would be disturbing a woman who needed to get up early for work and therefore had to be put in the lounge. I got my bed after an argument and if I made any noise getiing into it it was only in pushing somebody else's stuff off it. This may seem like an O.K. hostel but a warning to those who are unfortunate enough to miss their ferry through no fualt of their own. It would seem the warden is trying to make a bit of extra money by getting another backpacker into your bed as I can't think of any other reason for him aggresively putting me in the lounge as some sort of punishment for a late arrival.

Liked: Steve , who owns the hostel , is a very friendly , helpful and amazing guy. The hostel atmosphere is superb and it is well equipped. It has got everything to make it more better than a good hostel.So i really enjoyed my stay and i recommend it to other people as well
