Liked: The hostel was a nice big old house, probably needed a little bit of maintenance. The couple who ran the place were lovely and there was a cooked breakfast included in nights accommodation.

Disliked: Was a bit tricky to find. Would be good had more signposts to direct you.

Liked: The above ratings won't necessarily make sense without reading the whole story! In summary, a great facility, but treat with caution until the organisation is improved.We had to wait 90 mins for someone to turn up to open the hostel, despite having phoned ahead with an arrival time (which was actually the same as the estimate given when we booked). It was only in the last 30 mins of the wait that we knew anyone was coming at all. There is also no mobile reception at the hostel so we had to go about 2 miles to get some to try to find out what was happening. When our host arrived he was very well meaning, but did not seem familiar with the building, which meant we didn't have hot water until late at night and there was no gas so our (inclusive) breakfast was cooked using a microwave. He did give us a lift to the pub in Porthmadog and back, which was probably all that stopped us from asking for a reduction in the price. The location is very remote being about 2 miles from the main road, about 3 miles from a pub and about 7 from a shop (I think), which you should bear in mind, especially if like us you don't have a car. The building itself is really a mountain centre fit to cater for large groups rather than a traditional hostel, but everything is at a high standard, especially the brand new kitchen, which is definitely finished and useable regardless of what the webpage may say. It is one of the few places I have stayed where there is literally zero traffic noise!

Liked: absolutely loved the place! the staff was super friendly and helpful, and the location was gorgeous. would highly highly recommend. also great value for the money as a free English breakfast is part of the package.

Liked: The service offered by the hostel was brilliant. The location was very good. The rooms and the lounge were new, clean and offered a nice relaxed atmosphere.
