Liked: BEST. HOSTEL. EVER!!! Not only was it very clean and very comfortable with the "expected" hostel amenities (wifi, free breakfast, dvd's - ensuite bathroom mega bonus!) but what sets this place apart was the staff. They gave 100% every day to make sure that everyone there is happy, giving great advice on what there is to do in the area and going above and beyond in customer service! Nothing was to hard for any of them they treat you more like a friend than a client and I didn't want to leave :) If you want to see real Wales and have a pint with some great locals then head on over! They already know how good they are, I'd recommend finding out for yourself :)

Liked: Had a great time and would definitely look to stay here again. Ideal base for walkers who like a good pint at the end of it! Manager was most helpful.

Liked: Very warm atmosphere and nice/helpful staff!! Excellent location for walking trails departures.

Disliked: There was no kitchen available for travellers. The bathroom needs restoration...

Liked: Near to the walk which goes along the ridge between the black mountains and brecon beacons. Close to brecon and abergavenny towns (as along as you have a car) small shop nearby. Friendly staff, great cereal, tea, coffee, toast for breakfast. Clean rooms, perhaps a little small for 4 people but me and my sister had a room to ourselves!

Disliked: The hostel is within a pub which is great for food and drink but quite loud when trying to sleep. I found earplugs did the trick.

Liked: It was a friendly, clean hostel. Breakfast was more than adequate, tea and coffee always available, clean rooms & good atmosphere. The location is great for walking in the Brecons.

Disliked: No kitchen facilities, but there is food available in the pub which is attached to the hostel. It is fairly reasonably priced too, so it's not really too much of a drama.

Disliked: More a family/group traveller backpackers Be prepared to drive to another village to eat as there is nowhere else in the village to eat apart from the backpackers and the food is not great + no cooking facilities which we could see the kitchen is used to prepare all the pub food.

Liked: The countryside is really beautiful. Best part, however, was the people, who were some of the friendliest I've ever met. I felt like I was visiting friends rather than staying at a hostel. I had an absolutely fabulous time.

Liked: Staff were really friendly and helpful, even gave us somewhere to lock up our mountain bikes. Food in the pub was really good too; would definitely recommend eating there.

Disliked: Rooms were a little on the cold side but it was very cold outside so not hugely surprising. Shower could have done with a bit more pressure but was hot at least.

Liked: Excellent hostel in a fabulous location perfect for hiking. Really friendly and welcoming owner and staff. Quiz night on a Wednesday with sausage and chips- very nice. Beds are really comfortable with beautiful crisp white linen, room was clean and spacious. Chill out room very comfortable although difficult to watch a film with noise from the bar, My only slight complaint was the damp smell in the bathroom that was a bit overpowering on arrival however improved with the window left open for a while.

Liked: Great staff, SO helpful! Bar attached, friendly locals - quiz night on Wednesdays :) Neat location, out in the boonies in Wales but fabulous if you're into a bit of countryside! Comfty beds! Had a great stay, thanks guys!
