Liked: Note this is for the new location on Ma May Street - we had a great stay at the hotel. Service is excellent and the team is very helpful. Great location near all the food places and bars. Recommended.

Liked: Primarily the friendliness of all staff at the guest house. Lots of help and information was readily given and always with a smile. The room was extremely clean and comfortable and the food, though simple, was still very fresh and delicious, particularly the Pho given free on our arrival. I am so pleased that I paid attention to other favourable reviews for Hanoi Guest House and elected to try it for myself. Give it a go yourself you will not be disappointed.

Disliked: One very minor niggle was the very weak and intermittent wifi signal in guestroom. Having said that, two computers are available in the lobby for guests to use free of charge.

Liked: The Staff is incredible!! So so friendly! They helped us book an amazing trip to Halong bay, they organised our train tickets to Hoi An and even mailed our postcards for us! Would definitely recommend Hanoi Guesthouse to any traveller trying to save some costs but still enjoy a safe, clean stay!

Disliked: Nothing! Everything was great!

Liked: Staying at Hanoi Guesthouse really is more about the staff than about the rooms. Don't get me wrong the rooms are fine. But what really sets Hanoi Guesthouse apart from all the others guesthouses, we've stayed in while in Vietnam, is the service. Every one there is just so incredibly friend and will go to great lengths to make sure that your stay is as pleasant as possible. We also found that their tours were good value for money. Yes, you can find the tours cheaper but Hanoi Guesthouse really went that extra mile for us. They sorted out all our taxis (ALL not just for the tours) and they let us borrow a room so we could shower and get a bit of rest after we arrived back from the Sapa. All this without charging us a single dong. Thanks for a great stay!

Disliked: There was a bit of a leak from the shower, which meant that the bathroom floor was wet all the time, but this was never a real problem.

Liked: Great location; right in the heart of the Old City. Extremely friendly and helpful staff who are not at all pushy in terms of tours (I didn't book any). Nice, if simple breakfast. Free Wifi.

Liked: The staff are super welcoming, helpful and accommodating. The rooms are very clean. The location is central. Very comfortable beds. Great place!

Disliked: There is a construction project happening next door so sometimes it's a noisy.

Liked: The location is excellent, just a couple of streets away from Hoan Kiem lake but not entirely surrounded by other hotels/ hostels. The staff are the loveliest bunch we've met during our 8 months traveling. They are incredibly helpful and give good advice on tours, places to visit and good local cafes and restaurants. The rooms were extremely clean and in particular the room with the balcony is fantastic.

Disliked: Unfortunately there were building works going on next door which started early and finished late. The staff were very apologetic but there wasn't much they could do.

Liked: The staff were so helpful and friendly. They arranged our train tickets to Sapa and were so helpful. Good location.

Disliked: We only stayed for one night - so we were okay that our room did not have a window. However if we stayed longer we would have requested one.

Liked: Room and small ensuite bathroom were clean. Hostel is well situated in the Old Town. From the Airport you can use the local Bus 17 to Long Bien Station and then walk 10 minutes. Staff was very friendly and helpful (no extra costs for this). The tour to Halong Bay we booked at the hostel fulfilled everything promised. Free breakfeast: soup or bread an butter. Free internet at two computers.

Liked: We love Hanoi Guesthouse!!!!!!! We would definitely recommend it to everyone. And if visiting Hanoi next time we will stay there for sure. Staff is extremely helpful and they really care about their guests. Ms. Chau is great person, very kind, cheerful helpful and understanding. She was the first person we met in Vietnam and for us she will always be a nice face of this country. Before we came our flight was cancelled, so we came later, and baggage was lost, but the Hanoi Guesthouse staff was really helpful. They also helped with booking train tickets (no commission). We also book the HaLong cruise from them and it was great value for money. Really great place!!!!

Liked: This guesthouse has been one of the best places we have stayed on our 6 month tour of SE Asia. It is clean, safe and in a good location, which are top priorities for me. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, a free breakfast is included which is simple but tasty and filling. What makes this place stand out though is the staff's hospitality. They really do all they can to make your stay memorable. They offer a range of tours (not pushy at all) and we were more than happy with both our Sapa and Halong Bay trips. Great value stay for 5* service, what more can you ask for?

Liked: sehr nettes Personal, wirklich bemüht alle Wünsche zu erfüllen, Zimmer auch sehr nett (wurden kostenlos auf Ensuite abgegradet), waren auch noch freundlich als wir keine Touren bei ihnen gebucht haben - haben uns sogar geholfen einen billigen Anbieter zu finden (wollten keine Touri-Fahrt in die Halong Bay, sondern die Bus-Schiff-Bus Variante), gute Lage, alles in allem ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt

Disliked: sowohl die Zimmer- als auch die Balkontüre würden ganz dringend eine Nacheinstellung benötigen, haben immer geklemmt und geqitscht! Das war aber auch schon das einzige!

Liked: wunderschönes Zimmer, Badezimmer mit Badewanne, gute Lage, als wir total erhitzt ankamen gab es erst einmal eine kühle Flasche Wasser für jeden! nettes Personal, ich bekam da ich Geburtstag hatte sogar eine Torte ;)

Disliked: Wake-Up Call wurde vergessen, zum Glück sind wir von selbst um 6 munter geworden, sonst wärs wohl nichts mit unserem Flug geworden Getränkepreise im Hostel sind unverschämt hoch, zum Glücks gibts vis a vis einen kleinen Laden mit ortüblichen Getränkepreisen!

Liked: I've had a brilliant stay in the Hanoi guesthouse, the room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfy and the shower was hot (which seems to be a rareity in Asia). The staff were really friendly, their English is good and they always remember your name! They give you a free map and can give you advice on what to see and where to go. Although I didn't need to use the facility they have plenty of trips and excursions that you can book through the guesthouse. I was also offered really nice bread for breakfast everyday! All for under 5 GBP a night, fantastic! Would recommend to anyone!

Liked: Clean, excellent staff, comfortable room and bed

Disliked: Not much - quite a few stairs, A/C unit noisy (but better to have it than not!), building work next door so pretty noisy, not the hotel's fault but apparantly due to Government orders, building work can only be carried out at night?? Who know's but earplugs needed!

Liked: The staff at Hanoi Guesthouse were among the most helpful people I have ever met. They were so welcoming and kind- as soon as we arrived in Hanoi from the overnight train we were picked up and offered lunch with the staff on arrival. The Halong Bay tour that they recommended and we booked through them was absolutely superb.

Disliked: The location was among some rather busy and noisy streets which didn't feel entirely safe at night, although we felt very secure inside the Guesthouse itself.

Liked: Although the reception is very narrow, our rooms were extremely spacious! They were cleaned everyday, with a/c and hot water 24/7. The best thing about this guesthouse is the staff! When travelling across Vietnam you will come across some friendly people, but no body will be as friendly and helpful as all of the staff here! The rooms are great but they make this place special. The tours they arranged for us were great (Halong Bay and Sapa - they even phoned up Sapa Hotel and asked them to give us a nice room - and they did! We had a great room with balcony and a stunning view! all for the same price as everyone else on the tour). A true Gem in the middle of the Old Quarter in Hanoi. I would stay here again if ever in Hanoi, and have been recommending this place to everyone we have met along the way!

Liked: Everything, the staff were incredible! They literally did everything they could for us, I read a note in the hostel someone had to go to hospital an they took fruit to them each day. They would do anything to make you feel at home an safe.

Liked: Loved this guesthouse probably the best we stayed at during our travels.. the staff were so friendly and our halong bay tour was excellent as was our train to Hoi An. Very simple but it works. Air con is fab in the rooms and the staff were so friendly

Disliked: They sent us to their sister hostel on our last night.. which was a disaster. the air con was broken, they were rude, on the top floor (7th floor) with no lift and they didnt offer to help us with our many bags so we had to do more than one trip. If they try and send you there refuse and ask for them to put them in another one. The sister hostel ruined our trip.. the room was dirty, beds uncomfortable and the air con started leaking on our tv
