Liked: The two female staff that checked us in. Beds were comfy. Very small lockers in room.

Disliked: Pretty much everything else. Locals pretty much lived there and were taking over and had no respect for travellers. Security was horrible. A 2 digit code to front door is not really safe when all the dorm rooms have no locks. Rooms are freezing in winter, had to sleep with several layers. Oil heater in room did not work. Security of our bags was mentioned by staff several times which was a worry. On our last day our flight was not until late night. They were nice enough to look after our bags but could not guarantee safety again. When we came back at 2pm and wanted to wait 30-45 minutes in the common room we were kicked out because it was after 12pm. You have to leave the property at 12pm on the dot. We have stayed in 50+ hostels this year and never come across this. Location was a bit out of the city so have to pay extra for the metro. $6.50 there and back. Better off staying someone in the city to avoid the extra costs!! Would definally not recommed this hostel!!!

Liked: the relaxed atmosphere,and the staff were all very friendly and helpful-the best fun we've had in a hostel on the east coast throughout the entire holiday

Disliked: stale smell in the house and it's farther out of the city than we expected though it is right beside a metro.

Liked: A house with character and a laid back attitude that welcomes travellers with open arms.The wall is littered with postcards and notes from people around the world who have stayed here. Met a very freindly canadian man who has travelled around the world and who plans to go to europe by cargo ship.The bedrooms are open, spaced and very clean, kithen facilities and a tv and the relaxed atmosphere made the night here a relaxed one. Would recommend as it is a place to meet people and to talk about this marvelous city of washington DC.

Disliked: Nothing, I really cannot fault the atmosphere that this place brings.

Liked: I like that it was cheap. That´s probably all

Disliked: The place was full of weird ppl, we had 6 bed room and there were three single old men looking kind of homeless. Lockers at the basement didn´t look safe so i ended sleeping holding my handbag under cover. So i nearly didn´t sleep

Liked: Its style and layout

Disliked: Doors are always open during the day and all bathrooms have a toilet. Could do with one single toilet on every floor.

Liked: Clean and comfortable.

Disliked: The people staying there older than the average traveler and thus less open to meeting new people and making friends. The staff were abrupt and sometimes condescending and rude.

Liked: Close to metro, cool atmosphere

Disliked: Far out from downtown; no locks on doors, very insecure. Staff didn't really care that much, no AC. Since the windows were all open, there were a lot of bugs.

Liked: met many friendly people. near a subway stationreally cool house with many couches, garden, barbecue, kitchen, safes,....wonderfull place to stay... everything is very comfortableinet for free...

Disliked: didnt like the beds.

Liked: It is very close to the Tacoma train station. It is also close to a 7-11 shop.

Disliked: The staffs I encountered are somewhat rude and don't really care about you. The building is old and there is no aircon. The wi-fi doesn't work.

Liked: Fun, comfortable and cheap

Disliked: cramped room, not locker in rooms, shared rooms cannot be locked to stop others entering, front door wide open 24/7, 3 bathrooms between 30+ people.

Liked: The location is great, its a bit out of dc, but it is right by the metro station and a good 7/11. Lots of places to chill out and relax and very social. Free internet, but only one computer

Disliked: We stayed here during a record breaking heat wave, and there is no air conditioning, and the fan doesn't really cool down the room. Plus the doors are always open, even the front door so it didn't feel secure at all. Although it did seem like a friendly safe small town. The lockers are downstairs in the basement which wasn't convenient at all.

Liked: It was nice sitting on the balcony chatting to the other travellers on a summer's afternoon. The backyard is one of its best features.

Disliked: Security. The lockers were located in the basement and there were no keys to the rooms so anyone could enter, and the front door was often wide open so anyone could walk in off the street.

Liked: great place to stay. cheap and really close to metro line straight into DC,really great place to meet other travellers, and theres loads of stuff to do, like pool, tv, or chilling out in the garden. Only thing i would say is the rooms are very hot at night and having the windows/door open doesnt help much and could do with air con. But other than that the place is great! would recommend to anyone!
