Liked: I liked the staff, very friendly. A great things about this place was it had a lot of space. It had an area downstairs where you could chill out, get on computers, play pool etc. It also have a kitchen/dinning/tv area that was on another floor that was also really great. Big kitchen, and great free breakfast. They also offered a lot of free events that you could sign up for. Great location

Liked: Great location, great staff - particularly John (?), the breakfast boss. Great (free) tours with informative and personable guides, clean rooms with plenty of space and secure storage.

Disliked: As per usual with HI hostels - the no-alcohol policy.

Liked: I liked the breakfast alot, refrigerator access, hairdryer access, the room (also that its climate was well regulated), the fact that there was access to computers with Internet, and the location, also staff and the other hostelers were friendly.

Disliked: Finding another person sleeping in my bed was not so much fun. Maybe you can make sure, people understand better which bed they are supposed to sleep in.

Liked: Good beds, lots of space or bags etc in the dorms, good breakfast options, great location near all major sites and museums, very clean bathrooms.

Disliked: Wifi didn't work in the rooms, only in the communal areas. The showers didnt really have a dry place to get dressed that was also private.

Liked: Very clean, and much more spacious rooms than other hostels, breakfast was very good also

Liked: The hostel was very nicely maintained and smartly furnished. The dorms were huge so there is way enough space and privacy for everyone in the room. The bathrooms were clean and there was even shower gel and shampoo available. The breakfast was very good.

Disliked: The guy at the reception desk didn't reply when we said hello when entering.

Liked: Staff are friendly especially the morning breakfast man , who is a champion !! Great array of free activities to participate in . All within a decent walk of the major sites of an amazing city !!

Disliked: Bit outdated , needs refurb, and elevator really slow :(

Liked: in the room were some corner so that the two people who shared a bed had some space for their own - that was nice. the dining area was nice and clean. breakfast was ok.

Disliked: the air conditioning was to loud and to cold in the room - also in the dining area.

Disliked: that they falsely stated their cost... and that it cost 36 bucks to stay in a 10 bed dorm!

Liked: Lage, sher freundliche und Hilfreiche Mitarebiet, super Angebote: Stadtrundfahrt, geinsame wander,...

Disliked: undichte/ ungenügend isolierte Fenster-- es wurde dadurch sehr kalt im Zimmer (keine Heizung)

Liked: Really good location for all the top sites!! We just walked everywhere! The kitchen well equipped and the tv room is really good too!

Liked: The location was good. The breakfast attendant John made the trip more enjoyable by getting guests to meet new people.

Disliked: Rooms are not very spacious and the decoration is a bit old

Liked: Clean, simple, there were big lockers in the rooms to store belongings.

Disliked: No alcohol allowed on the property, which I believe causes the hostel to be slightly anti-social. It means people just sit around on their laptops instead of chatting to people. Perhaps this is because of the wi-fi, but I think if one could have a few beers in the common area, it would make things a bit more social.

Liked: Good location, breakfast, staff is nice and helpful.

Disliked: Washing the dishes by the guests after breakfast not a very good idea (maybe not everybody is washing them properly....), poor internet connection and wifi only in the lobby and not in the rooms, extremely slow elevator.

Liked: good location, no-nonsense service, fair value for money

Disliked: The air conditioner was horribly noisy, and cold. I could not sleep, and I almost caught a cold. They simply do not care. Ask the others.

Liked: The best thing was the free tours and events which are a great bonus. The beds and bedrooms were also extremely comfortable, more so than any other hostel I've ever stayed at.

Disliked: The $4 fee to leave your luggage when waiting to check-in or go to the airport is outrageous and unusual given than HI-DC seems to be a not-for-profit organisation and that for profits rarely charge for this service. I left my luggage in the room and didn't pay, but this sacrificed security. A free (or almost free) ticketing system as done by most hostels would be a fairer charge. Also, the lack of a bar (which may be due to the USA's puritanical licensing laws) means that there is no real room for socialising. Many of the guests sit in front of laptop screens and don't chat or socialise in their rooms and the downstairs lobby which is under-utilised and best suited for socialising is often taken up with laptop users who could be encouraged to use the canteen.

Liked: Secure covered bike storage, shampoo and soap provided, no curfew, and access to the common areas/ lockers even after check-out

Disliked: Carpet in hallways can never really be that clean, had to provide your own lock for in room lockers (none available for rent)

Liked: Good breakfast, welcoming staff, close to the point of interest and secure location. Room well separated for privacy.

Disliked: Air conditioning works great but popping the beds placed nearby.
