Liked: The staff was nice. They even called us to make sure that we are going to check in before the receoton closes.

Disliked: As mentioned above, everything is extremely old and outdated. I don't think anyone cared to put any effort changing furniture and bathrooms/kitchens. The bathroom did not have a mirror! The water runs cold and it took forever to warm it up.

Liked: The location was really good in SB close to the beach and some bars. The roof-terrace was nice, too.

Disliked: The beds squeaked all night which was really annoying.

Liked: Handy for Santa Barbara sights. Although a few blocks from the beach it was ok given the price. Staff were helpful

Disliked: Expensive private room. Bed linen did not fit the bed and there were horrible plastic mattress covers. Road noise.

Liked: The place had a good atmosphere and it felt like we were at someones home. They had a big tv with films, a nice patio and new computer for use.

Disliked: The dorm that was suppose to be 4 beds was more like a 8 dorm because you had to walk through another 4 dorm room to get into it. The doors between was also always open. Also the total price was not accurate because of the tax, which should have been included in the total price at hostelbookers. Not just written as a btw further down. The total price ended up being way too high for a bed in a 8 dorm room. This also caused confusion when arriving at the hostel and we argued with the receptionist before realising that the tax was in addition. Also there were no one there when we arrived, and we had to call this number and wait for 15 minutes after already walking for 30 minutes to get there from the train station. They made us feel bad for interrupting their dinner.

Liked: I really liked the roof terrace. Its just nice to hang out there and have a beer with the other travellers.

Disliked: Its really expensive. The hostel was good, but not exceptional in any way, so why are they charging double of what I would normally expect?

Liked: Biggest Pros:- Fantastic location (10 minutes from beach, 30 minutes from main State Street, lots of cheap eateries around, very safe seeming neighborhood)- Very clean- Small house - not tons of kids dragging in at 3 am and puking on your pillow, not wonky useless wifi as is often the case in bigger hostels- Extras: free parking, awesome sundeck upstairs, pancakes and coffee as advertised, good little common room with TV and movies and net hookups, wifi that worked

Disliked: Cons: - No hot water in the shower - not freezing but tepid/neutral - Remember to bring your own towel! (think you can rent one for $2) - If you want a party hostel, this isn't your best bet.
