Liked: Having recently stayed at another hostel near Powell station, Tradeswinds Hostel winds hands down! It's location is not only safe but close to Chinatown, Columbus, etc. The people were also much more friendly, into taking and exploring instead of sitting around connected to the internet. I mean, you came to SF to explore, not be glued to Facebook. Beds are sturdy, people are very curteous.

Disliked: They are not kidding when they say small, but somehow it works. I stayed in a room with 5 others, and I was glad for the window.

Liked: To keep my review balance the staff were very friendly and helpful. the place is clean aside from the negative below. The location is quite good, slighlty closer to the wharfs than many other hostels.

Disliked: So first of all, we booked into a 6 bed dorm, however there are only two dorm rooms upstairs, everyone else sleeps downstairs in one big room that is partitioned off like offices. You have no roof and no door just an opening. this means that you are basically sleeping in a giant dorm of 25+ people. To make matters worse they have a master light switch that turns on and off about 40 lights which are only allowed to be turned on and off by staff, that is to say, they pretty much tell you when you go to sleep and when you wake up. There are no signs up to say this but you are not allowed to keep any of your belongings on the floor. several of our things were taken as "lost property" - we did however get it all back. The downstairs bathroom has no ventalation and smelt mouldy and disguiting. Otherwise the place was very clean but I hate when a place smells so bad that you feel like it will make you sick.

Liked: It is clean and staff is always helpful and available. After signing out in the morning it was possible to leave my luggage to the hostel until midnight.

Disliked: not enought plugs in wall in bed room.

Liked: Wish I can stay longer in this hostel next visit!!! The staff is extremely helpful for everybody and they really keep this place easy to make friends.

Liked: availability of condiments.

Disliked: way overrated on this site. majority of dorm rooms are not actually seperated and have no doors so very noisy through the night.don't expect to get much sleep after 8:30/9 which is not nice with a hangover!suitable for only the very social as common area is small and feels claustrophobic.

Liked: I loved that the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful from the moment I arrived. The atmosphere is great in the hostel and both the common area and the dorms makes it easy to meet other people. I loved the layout of the dorms, the beds were extremely comfortable and the hostel was spotlessly clean. Without a doubt the best place I've stayed while in San Francisco.

Disliked: Nothing, I liked everything!

Liked: Felt welcome and comfortable at the moment I stepped through the doorway. Great place to stay! The helpful staff creates a friendly atmosphere and encourages for jointly activities, which you can join whenever you feel like it. But if you don't, it's okay too. O, and spacious rooms with good solid beds! Your bottom- or top-partner turning around or even jumping on its mattress won't wake you up!

Disliked: Hmm..?? Maybe that there's no daylight in the living room, so you can't check whether it's raining? :)

Liked: Great staff both friendly and helpful, amazing location and it's small so you have a chance to get to know everyone. Also surprisingly comfortable bed, with a huge and secure metal locker underneath each bed

Disliked: The stairs!! It's also difficult to find. Not much in the way of signs.

Liked: This is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in for what matters most to me: the friendliness, family atmosphere, openness and general sociability and eagerness to make friends. The hostel considers itself to be a ship and everyone here is on the crew or among the passengers in some way. It is a great trip to take. One of the best. I recommend it highly. In addition the hostel is excellent in terms of interesting and beautiful location, cleanliness, free internet access and helpfulness of the staff.

Disliked: I did not dislike anything at all in the this hostel.

Liked: This place is the bomb..! Great, nice and central. Very clean, I would eat my chicken and cashews off the toilet seat. Kate (one of the hostel employees) is awesome..!

Disliked: That I only stayed for 2 nights, and not more.
