About HI - San Francisco - City Center Hostel
From the hostel, join the free or cheap activities we organize for guests, which include: pub crawls, hostel dinners, walking tours of Chinatown & downtown, museum visits, tea tastings, festival outings and more.
Off the beaten tourist path but still close to it all, the City Center Hostel is in between the edgy Tenderloin district and the clean marble columns of the city's Civic Center and arts districts. The neighborhood is a hub for some of the city's best cheap cuisine as well as great nightclubs and music venues both big and small.
We're just 7 blocks from the Civic Center Bart station, and we offer a discounted shuttle service to and from the airport. Other amenities include free linen and towels, daily housekeeping and a full professional-grade kitchen.
The San Francisco City Center Hostel is operated by Hostelling International USA, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting intercultural understanding, environmental stewardship, and world peace through travel. There is an additional daily membership fee of $3 per adult for non-Hostelling International members.

Boutique Hostel Rooms offer 4 or 5 beds and an en-suite bathroom in every room. Gorgeous Standard Private and Premium Private rooms for up to 2 guests are also available.
Online prices do not include taxes. Daily bed rates of $40 or more are subject to a 15% tourist and hotel tax. Bed rates of less than $40 are taxed only a 1% tourist tax, per city regulations

The San Francisco City Center is located four blocks from Civic Center Plaza; within walking distance to City Hall, Asian Art Museum, Symphony, Opera, Union Square, Chinatown, Polk Street Shopping district, Hayes Valley Shopping district, Nob Hill, SoMa, and cable cars.
Within 0.5 miles you’ll find: cable cars to North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, City Hall, Asian Art Museum, Bus, Subway, and Street Car lines.
