Liked: Excellent free breakfast really sets you up for the day. Good hostel atmosphere. Nice common area. Lockers in dorms. Good central location. Great for meeting other travellers.

Disliked: Travelling as a couple we prefer to stay in a private room but couldnt afford one here. If you like your privacy, you can get your own room in the nearby Aida hotel for cheaper than the cost of 2 dorm beds at this hostel.

Liked: the staff is friendly I liked the atmosphere (deco) activities to discover the town

Disliked: the room was pretty small for 4 people the bathroom was really small (especially the sink)

Liked: Very clean, nice breakfast, nice common area, good location.

Disliked: Not much, Maybe the very squeaky beds in our room, and the fact that nobody was in the reception when I needed to check out, but they came just before my airport shuttle arrived so it worked out ok in the end.

Liked: The place is really lovely. It's the ideal place to stay when you're in love with San Francisco like most of the guests. There's sufficient amount of restrooms and shower, fun activities at night and good Internet reception. Sharing room with people you don't know and making friends with them is a unique experience here as the facility just encourages great human interaction. It's the best deal you'll ever get in SF considering its right at the heart of the city. Lastly, breakfast is on them too, every single day

Liked: Much more than you'll get for the same money anywhere else in the state. It's closer to a hotel than to a hostel, but still very sociable. I seriously recommend this place to anybody. Doubtlessly.

Liked: The staff was very nice and helpful. You can also simply hang out with the staff if you want to. Everyone was very easy-going and there were a lot of activies in the evening. The place was also cleaner than I had expected it. They have a lot of bathrooms in the hostel, so there wasn't any problem to shower whenever you wanted to. There was free wi-fi in the hostel and also I think about seven computers for everyone to use.

Disliked: There was really nothing I didn't like. Sometimes there was a party all night in the basement of the hostel, which I didn't mind at all. That could probably a problem for people with very light sleep.

Liked: It was full of character! The staff was very friendly/helpful and the atmosphere was welcoming. It is a great place to meet new people from all over and there is great access to the city.

Disliked: Checkout had to be completed before 10, as opposed to before 11 am as stated online.

Liked: I've stayed at dozens of hostels around the world. This one was excellent - a hosteller's hostel! Social: The Adelaide was one of the most social hostels I've ever been to. The dining room has large benches and tables so you're forced to sit next to others and meet people. They had Wii games going every night I was there. It's a large hostel with some private rooms in nearby buildings so there's always lone travellers staying there looking to meet people. Most guests were international (French, German, Asian) or out-of-state students. Most were in the 20s. Staff: All were amazing. Very helpful and knowledgable, very laidback, and very hard-working. Not stingy (ie they gave me some stuff for free) or pushy (ie did not try to sell me any particular tour) . They had a staff-made free dinner for all guests for Christmas, including wine! A staff member was gonna take guests to a free concert on one of the evenings I was there. Staff were very friendly to all guests, including the annoying ones. Clean: The bathrooms/shower rooms in the hall were private, i.e. individually lockable doors. All were very clean, with loads of toilet paper and soap. Good hot water. Location: Excellent location. A few blocks from Union Square (!), and 2 further blocks away is a central subway station with both MUNI and BART lines. Walking distance to SF's famed cable cars, china town, and everything downtown has to offer. Very easy access to all attractions by walking down to Market Street and catching public transit.

Disliked: Sheets: Sheets were clean but not 100% bleached. The duvet, like in most hostels unfortunately, is not washed between guests. Building: The building is starting to show signs of age (old windows for example). Two large dorm rooms are in the basement (cool privacy curtains!), and the remaining are in upper floors with no elevator. The entrance is off an alley-way. The front door is often open so anyone can come in, and doors to the dorm beds were often left unlocked by other guests. Half-size lockers are provided in dorm rooms. Some dorm rooms were pretty cramped.

Liked: Location is very good.. near main train station, shopping area and union square.. staff are very helpful..

Disliked: i was assigned on the upper part of the bunk bed which was very shaky.. but the rest of the beds were fine..

Liked: Great location, good breakfast included. Good hostel in general.

Disliked: Room smelled of smoke.

Liked: Very safe place, great atmosphere, great and friendly staff, very relaxing. I would definitely stay here again.

Disliked: The heater didn't work one night so they gave me an extra blanket, which totally took care of the problem.

Liked: Unfortunately I was transferred to the Fitzgerald when i arrived at the Adelaide Hostel as I think they share a similar deal. I gather this was because the room was not ready when I arrived. I am providing my evaluation from this hotel.

Disliked: The shower was not consistently working and i had trouble turning on the lights. The room was very small for the amount i paid and I did not feel it was worth the amount. In saying this, the people were very friendly at the desk.

Liked: Has a great 'homely' feel where you can just relax. The breakfast is great, i'm now addicted to blueberry bagels! Friendly staff keen to help. I actually extended my stay as it was so good. Really good location as well.................

Disliked: sometimes a short queue for the shower in the morning
