Liked: Nice clean room, good central location. Free internet access and free breakfast

Disliked: I got a room next to the lift, (which is old and noisy.) Also I was told to go to the Kensington Hotel to get my single room with ensuite booking, this was unexpected and they did not inform me of that previously. Apparently the Kensington Hotel around the corner handles couples and singles for the Adelaide Hostel, and it is actually nicer. if it wasn't for the "lift room" I would have been happier all round. Don't get room 504, 404, 304, 204 or 104. Cheers

Liked: The location is good and the bed was not bad I guess. The Adelaide itself (i.e. the hostel, not the nearby hotel we were sent to) seems like a nice place to meet people.

Disliked: First of all their private ensuite rooms are in fact not at the Adelaide itself but at a nearby hotel called Dakota. That didn't turn out to be a *big* inconvenience but it's just ridiculous to sell two hotels under the same name (most likely some ploy to make use of the rating and popularity of the Adelaide itself) even if they are close by and have the same owner. That meant we had to go to one of two separate buildings to get breakfast, neither of which was any good, especially for the price: nothing to drink except milk and dreadful coffee, no cheese and no meats. Thankfully San Francisco is brimming with good restaurants and cafés. The room was on the 8th floor which would have been fine except the elevator is something of an antique and about every other time we tried to use it, it was stuck on some floor so we had to walk up several flights of stairs to get it (plus I noticed it was overdue for inspection). The in-room wi-fi usually didn't work and when we mentioned it to the reception staff the response was always a helpless "yeah I've tried resetting the router, what else can I do?" or something similar. Not good. Also, housekeeping was pretty apalling. They did come in to make the bed but they didn't clean anything - at all - for all of the eight days we stayed there. They just make the bed and don't even put on clean sheets, much less clean the floor or the bathroom. We even had to specifically ask for more of their tiny soap bars. In short, don't bother - at least not for the seriously overpriced private rooms.

Liked: The hotel room was decorated nicely, was clean and tidy and offered all the basics that some other budget hotels dont have (yet fail to mention this in the advertisment) i.e. tv, iron, hairdryer. The location was great, right in the theatre district of SF. Everything was in walking distance and the staff of Adelaide Hostel/Hotel were friendly, helpful and provided a GREAT pub crawl on the Friday night!

Disliked: The room was small and the poor ceiling fan and windows that didnt open made the room a little stuffy and warm - despite the outside temperature being quite cool. But as we were busy discovering the SF area during the day, this really didn't matter.

Liked: This property has a great location and a good lay-out. The free breakfast and wi-fi connection were wonderful, and the $5 dinners a great deal. It's good having lockers in the room and free luggage storage too.

Disliked: I thought the rooms were very crammed and poorly-lit. There weren't lamps or small shelves by each bed, which I've found very useful in other hostels. I asked for the floor of the room to be cleaned and it wasn't - the floor under the bed (the only place to stow luggage) was full of trash and dust. The bedsteads were terribly squeaky!

Liked: Clean, nice enough hotel, but we were not in the hostel (although we though we were going to be).

Disliked: NO atmosphere in the hotel that the majority of their private rooms are located in. Plus they did NOT tell us we would be in the hotel when we booked it.

Liked: breakfast was filling. where's the fresh fruit though?

Disliked: the shower heads were terrible and just sort of sprinkled in your face and no where near your body. pillows were old and yuck. everything else was pretty good.

Liked: The free breakfast was nice and there were lots of different styles of events arranged for all kinds of people with different interests. The pub crawl was great fun. Its a great hostel to meet people in. There's plenty of restrooms and showers on the floors. The common room is nice and comfy and clean. The internet acess is free wqhich is useful and films are shown and tv programmes downstairs and in the common room. The kitchen has plenty facilities.

Disliked: The bedding was abit smelly and not the cleanest. The $5 food that the hostel provided wasn't very nice. The hostel is very close to a few dodgy areas in all directions so wouldnt recommend for a lone traveller.

Liked: The Adelaide really was a home away from home during our stay in SF - I shared a double room with private bathroom which was better value than anyone else I met in SF, especially including the wifi and the REALLY GREAT BREAKFAST. Apart from all the nice things they could arrance (cheap and healthy meals, airport transfer with pick-up at the door), the atmosphere in the living room was really cozy. I'd definitely recommend it to everyone travelling to SF!

Disliked: Towels and bedlinen were not super clean, maybe better bring your own.

Liked: They had me stay in the Fitzgerald Hotel as part of their 3 building complex. This building was clean and had character. The staff at the Hotel was exceptional. The Adelaide and Fitzgerald offer discounted valet parking which was a nice convenience.

Disliked: Hard to find down the alley at first.
