Liked: warm lounge, good for meeting people

Disliked: one of the staff was extremely unfriendly

Liked: Booked a single private. Upon check in was told that the privates were at another building just around the corner. The Fitzgerald. It was a nice surprise. Better location than the Adelaide itself, since its not in an alley. Nice well equipped rooms: ensuite, hair dryer, ironing board, lcd tv, wifi. Decent free breakfast.

Disliked: Lets just say it was very "cosy". But as we all know, good things come in small packages, don't we? No air con: not a big deal but got a lil warm from time to time. Plastic pillows...not good. and not a big deal but lousy view ie zero view, brick wall.

Liked: The hotel is conveniently located within downtown. A hotel shuttle service going to the airport is provided for a minimal fare. The room is secure and clean and stylish and affordable.

Disliked: I didn't have any undesirable experience.

Liked: Double rooms were on another site, just around the corner; which was fine. Small but comfortable rooms, with reception staff happy to help.

Liked: Adelaide was way over my expectations! This place is very clean, has an AMAZING breakfast, a great common area, the staff is always available. I'm already telling my friends that this is the place to stay in SFO.

Liked: This was the best hostel I've ever stayed at. The location was great, two blocks away from Union Square with lots of shopping, and all the public transit routes through this area. Therese was full kitchen to cook meals, though the $5 dinners were geat as well.

Disliked: They were sold out on the private rooms, so I stayed in a dorm, though roommates were good so it wasn't a problem

Liked: Great hostel! Lots of fun people and staff. I really liked the breakfast and the pub crawl.

Liked: yummy free breakfast, dinner was offered at a small charge, free internet, location was great, staff were lovely and free drinks and nibbles one evening a week was a great surprise.

Disliked: Lack of plug sockets in our room.

Liked: Location

Disliked: Moved to seperate building called Dakota hotel..Noise was ridiculous, windows do not block any sound what so ever (purchase of ear plugs essential), bed was poor. Did not like that I had to go to the other hostel buildings to find a kitchen/get food/make tea. If not available in the building, some items like kettle/cups should be placed in all rooms.

Liked: Everything; the staff, the location, the rooms. Everything was perfectly taken care off and nothing beats a great location. It's safe and a great place to meet people when you're travelling. They also have a lot of things arrange for people travelling through San Francisco.

Disliked: They would clean the bathrooms around 11 am, which meant that morning showers was showering in a not completely clean bathroom. However, if you bring flip flops you should be fine!

Liked: The place is super clean, they organize a lot of activities (poker night, trivia, wine and cheese, bar crawls, comedy shows) and the staff is amazing.

Liked: Loved my stay! Met a lot of really great people, Had a lot of fun on their pub crawls, excellent dinners and friendly staff. This was my first stay in a hostel, and I was very impressed! Will definitely come back here whenever I'm in San Francisco.

Disliked: That I couldn't stay any longer, had to fly back home.

Liked: Location, staff, price.

Disliked: The elevator didn´t work for the most part of our stay, and the bathing tub is so narrow that the bath curtain keeps sticking on your body. Gross! (This was in the Dakota building since there is were they have the private rooms)

Liked: The location was very good, its was very central. Many of the tourist attractions were within walking distance, or a short cab ride away. There were deadbolts for each of the rooms and lockers in the room to store things. Free Internet.

Disliked: There are actually two buildings. We stayed at the sister location, and it was quite noisy at night, loud enough to wake us up. the elevator was old-fashioned with sliding doors-unreliable at times. However for the cost, and the location its hard to find any better.

Liked: The staffs were kind! One of them (I believe is Gerald) upgraded my friend and I to a bigger room, it was greater than I thought. There are also enough bathrooms+showers. Free breakfast was very decent. Love the variety.

Disliked: Um...people who would like to use locker have to bring their own lock pads or else you have to pay for $5 to buy one!

Liked: The double room had at least what looked like new carpets and tried to make up for all it was lacking with a widescreen LCD TV. There was also a fridge and a microwave. They do also turn down your bed everyday and gice you new towels.

Disliked: The bed was horrible: it was placed on a base with plastic sheeting which squeaked at every move and turn, and there was also a wooden board (??!) between the base and the mattress which also made creaking sounds everytime you turned over in the night. Consequently, neither myself nor my boyfriend got much sleep! The sheets also had black marks all over them and the blanket was holed and smelled funny. The ensuite bathroom was a real joke - the shower looked like something out of a hospital and had only a pipe as the head which spurted a fine, either very hot or very cold, spray of water onto you. It was in fact the worst shower I have had in the 6 months I have been travelling around the world, and that's saying something. The towels were also old, thin and dirty and smelled of chemicals. They seemed to think that giving us 6 bars of soap on our arrival would make up for all the dirtiness! This place is really not a hotel, it's a hostel and as such, not worth 50 dollars each a night (San Francisco is generally not very good value for money, but surely there's better than this!). Also, beware if you book to stay at the Adelaide hostel, you might get sent here without being notified, as they make no mention that the Dakota is their sister property across the street. As for the location, it was on the border between Downtown, which is a really cool area, and The Tenderloin, which is dodgy as hell. We arrived late at night here and went out to get food, and just a few streets away there were homeless people and junkies everywhere. The staff was not particularly helpful or friendly either.
