Customer reviewGreat area to stay in. Hostel was clean and comfortable. Yummy meals on rooftop. Staff in hostel were not so great, seemed like they didn't want to be there. But we found our own way round and had a great time anyway!! |

Lydia Ashmanhostel building seemed safe & secure in a not so secure neighborhood. we were warned about the weekend club scene & did whitness fist fights from our window! service was thorough & friendly. brightly colored walls made the building seem cleaner than I think it was..so i guess that was nice. |

Customer reviewFree internet access was good, but staff weren't very helpful. There was no TV in our private room as promoted. Good, clean basic room. Rooftop bar the highlight. Great neighbourhood and good public transport access. |

Customer reviewConveinent to most places in the city. Very close to the Bart. Clean rooms. Be warned that there is a club on the bottom floor, so unless you're out til 2am, you will get NO SLEEP thanks to the ridiculously loud techno music that literally vibrates the windows in your room. Overall a cool place. |

Customer reviewThe hostel is OK for money. It lacks a kitchen and some kind of social area. Good 4 bed dorms with bathroom. On Friday and Saturday there is a party in the roof until 1:45, so plan to go out or be in the party! |

Customer reviewIt was nicer than most other hostels we stayed in in the USA. One very good thing is that you have free internet computers (but the wireless only works on certain floors in the hall). There even was a small free breakfast included (which we didn't know beforehand) so that was nice too. However, the hostel is not in a really nice spot as the surrounding area is pretty run down and probably very dangerous at night, but the BART station was only about a 5 minute walk so that was o.k. because it made sight-seeing easy ... One thing to watch out for is the fact that the hostel is in the "bed bug registry" and we met a girl who had bed bug bites from staying in a dorm, which is a really disgusting thing and they are extremely hard to get rid of, so I would only recommend to stay in their private rooms (they aren't that expensive anyway, and you have your own bathroom!!!), not the cheaper dorms. All in all our expierence with Elements Hostel really wasn't too bad (after having been to the very horrible Hostel Fresh and Candy Hostel FULL of bed bugs in New York City)... |

Customer reviewCertainly not the staff, they were the reason we left early. Rude, couldn't care less attitude. Booked a private room, appeared clean but mouldy rubbish under bed, broken toilet, broken sink, broken bath room door. Better hostels are available in safter locations. This is in one of the worst neighbourhoods, didn't feel safe after dark |

Customer reviewI previously stayed at Elements in a private room, which was lovely. The only downside being there is never any staff on the front desk! This time however, we shared a room with 2 other girls who were obviously staying for a long time and had spread their stuff EVERYWHERE and left the bathroom seeped in water we felt we had to swim to get to the sink :( Not much the staff could do about that I suppose, however, the room was very hot stuffy with no fan or air con and the window would not open so we were uncomfortably hot. We were also not provided with pillow cases for the slightly dirty looking pillows...and there was still no one on the front desk...ps. If you want an early night DO NOT stay on a Friday or Saturday because you will here the club downstairs! |

Customer reviewThe location is fantastic, the roof bar and restaurant are really great and memorable. We had a great view from our room on the third floor. The room and bathroom were a good size. |

Customer reviewConvenient location, price affordable; sweet rooftop restaurant with view of the city. However, don't expect to get much sleep on Friday or Saturday nights--the pounding footsteps above, below and in the stariways, as well as the high decibel music, will keep you up. If you aren't one of the party crowd, then you are stuck in a dismally lit room with only a bunkbed for furniture. |
