Liked: I came to San Francisco all by myself, kind of afraid I would have to do everything alone. As soon as I entered The Green Tortoise, however, I wasn't alone anymore. It's just a great place to meet nice people from all over the world.

Liked: this hostel is awesome i loved it-fruit in the morning such a novelty having fruit for a backpaper. really friendly and lovely people:-)

Liked: The staff were always on hand to help with restaurant and bar suggestions.The bar area was great and the daily breakfast was useful.The atmosphere was very chilled and the hostel had a very bohemian look to it which I liked. It had a real San Francisco feel to it.

Liked: This place is the best hostel I've stayed in during my trip. The rooms are well equipped (personal reading lamps, plenty of power points, huge lockers that easily fit a bulky backpack, etc) and the place has an abundance of character, is friendly and comfortable, and the free dinners on Mon, Wed & Friday are a definite bonus.

Liked: I was very dissapointed with my bed as if was a foam matress in the window still and not a proper bed which I was suprised at considering I had paid $66 for 2 nights

Liked: great big kitchen and common room, saved alot of money by cooking our own dinners and also having the free dinners and free breakfasts. the location was also really good.

Liked: Brilliant place to meet people, provided towels, change of bed cloth, free internet, free breakfast, occasional free dinner, pool table and organised outings. Great staff as well :)

Liked: Staff were extremely helpful and knew the city and transport options well. Excellent location - close to everything. Rooms, facilities and breakfast was good - great value for money. Would stay there again and recommend to anyone.

Liked: We had a great time at the Green Tortoise! It's a fun place and you can meet lots of nice people! Accomodation and so on is good and worth the money. I would always go back!!

Liked: Facilities such as sauna, free diner and activities.I had a private, 2-person room. Luckily I was alone, because the bed was very small (I guess 120 cm). Room was also extremely small. Very noisy (airconditioning). Everything is old and outdated (including bathrooms). Wifi signal too weak in the room.Many people are doing nothing more than uploading photo's and stories on facebook (computers provided) -- so not much room for a social talk. Mice spotted in the common room.
