Liked: The guests were friendly and nice...

Disliked: Juliette, the manager is terrible - she was screaming of people and was angry... she can be friendly, but still rough - during one moment to the other she can get crazy... This is NOT a nice place - and especially the staff is very, very bad... stay away from this place...

Liked: Location Ideal, just few minutes from Gas Lamp

Disliked: Staff, run entirely by Manager/ owner, Micro managed in it's purest of forms, I would suggest this hostel to anyone who wishes to have a dirty but nagged/harrist stay. My advice book early so to avoid the same fate as my travelling comrades and i.

Liked: Very friendly hostel! The owner was fantastic, really helpful and introduced you to the other guests! Breakfast was served when you wanted, bread (like subway bread) and jam which was really nice and choice of tea or coffee. Hostel very clean and homely!

Disliked: Next door there is a nightclub so was loud on weekends. Also very close to airport so planes very loud but you get used to this very quickly.. didnt keep us awake at all.

Liked: The manager Juliet was very helpful and little Italy is a nice area to stay in with lots of places to eat and things to see within walking distance.

Disliked: The free parking is for bikes, NOT cars, there is only two bathrooms for the whole hostel, and I got bedbug bites from staying there

Liked: Ideal location, met lots of great people but I think Juliet gets bored being on her own all day as she likes to follow you around.

Disliked: Nothing, just could be a bit cleaner.

Liked: Close to the airport and right in Little Italy. Walking distance from the bay. Juliet is very friendly and helpful and can tell you everything you need to know about San-Diego

Disliked: It's right under the flight path. During the day, the planes can get a bit loud. But this is to be expected when being so close to the airport makes it so great. the planes don't fly after 10pm anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Liked: Juliet, the manager was very friendly and helpful.

Disliked: This Hostel is right next to the airport so it is extremely loud. The manager talks a lot. I was the only guest in 7 of 10 nights - boring. It is a rather long way to Downtown SD.

Liked: We had a long stay and at the end it felt like home. The Host is very helpfull and will always give advice on what you can do in the city.

Disliked: We were downstairs which was quite cold in comparison to the rest of the house

Liked: Easy going feel, excellent location (easy to get to the train station, airport, Balboa Park, etc), safe and nice neighbourhood and it is relaxed and quiet (in a positive way).

Liked: The manager Juliet is very friendly, and makes an effort to introduce you to everyone. However, she can be a little overbearing sometimes.

Disliked: Needed more bathrooms/toilets. This was a particular issue in the mornings

Liked: Located in Little Italy which is a nice clean and safe area.

Disliked: Location is 15 min walk at least to trolley which is annoying, hostel right under flight path for busy airport and the planes are extremely loud, the rooms are old and dingy and the shower/toilets pretty grubby with no lock. No where to store ur luggage in room - would rather stay at other hostels if available in gaslight or downtown.

Liked: The other travelers I met were great lads

Disliked: There was no running water because of a broken pipe, this problem did not get solved before I left.Likewise, I was very disappointed with the manager because she did not have any sense of business (not even one night refunded out of 5, that's a shame).It is certainly not good value for money and I would not recommend this hostel to anybody.

Liked: Juliet the manager provides the warmest welcome you'll ever get in any hostel. She'll introduce you to all of the other guests (who she'll remember the names/countries of) and give a tour of the hostel to. She wakes early to cook pancakes EVERY morning (even her birthday) for any guest who wants them. That is a touch you won't find anywhere else.Little Italy is a great neighborhood of cafes and restaurants and is very close to the airport. Juliet will tell you how to get anywhere you want (downtown, beaches, etc.)If you're looking for the cheapest, clean accommodation in SD and are willing to make the trade-offs for the cost, this hostel will do nicely. If you're picky or a princess, this isn't the place for you.

Disliked: The main thing you'll notice immediately about this hostel (and this should be mentioned on the main hostel page) is that it is DIRECTLY under the flight path of planes coming into land at the nearby airport. If you're a light sleeper, this may bother you. But if you've ever stayed in a hostel where someone else in your room is snoring (and who hasn't!) - that's worse than any plane noise. It really is impressive how close those planes are above the hostel. If you're a party machine and want to get back to the hostel at 2am, keep in mind that you have to wake Juliet up to get back inside. And she's the one that gets up at 7am to make people pancakes. The bathrooms need to have curtains on the windows - the downstairs bathroom has a window that can be looked at from outside. This isn't cool. If two handymen spent four solid weeks working their butts off, they could truly transform this into an amazing hostel for the price. That said, even now it's good for the price.

Liked: The atmosphere was great, fuelled by Juliet's (the manager) warm welcome and focus on everyone socialising. The rooms on the top floor were nice and definitely good value for money.

Disliked: The rules and regulations were a bit intimidating, and the hostel could've had better bathroom facilities. The main problem is its location right under a flightpath, but if you're used to travelling and have some earplugs handy, it's not really a problem at all!

Liked: Juliet does a fantastic job running the hostel on her own with no help. It is a fun place to meet people and is very safe and secure. The pancakes alone are worth the visit.

Liked: Juliet (manager) is the star of the hostel, her knowledge about the local area and information about other towns and cities takes some beating. She is always right!! Hostel is friendly and chilled out, a nice place to stay overall.

Liked: That is was very close to everything and it was really nice atmosphere, got brekkie and coffee every morning, juliet was so nice and so helpfull for what ever your needs were, she was always friendly and hospitable and really what makes the stay as good as possible..
