About HI - Chamounix Mansion

In the heart of Philadelphia's Fairmount Park - historic Chamounix Mansion has welcomed overnight guests and groups for over forty years.

Originally built in 1802 as a country home, the mansion rests on a scenic bluff above the Schuylkill River and is convenient to Philadelphia's cultural and historic attractions, sporting events, and restaurants.

Nestled in a wooded setting, Chamounix Mansion offers a welcoming front porch and two communal rooms restored to 1850 and furnished with antiques. A marble fireplace graces the 19th-Century parlor and a wonderful mural of the historic Water Works on the Schuylkill River can be found in the main hallway.

Use our free bikes to explore Fairmount Park, stroll to Belmont Plateau to see one of the best views of Philadelphia's skyline, play tennis nearby, BBQ in our picnic area or just relax on Chamounix's pristine grounds.

Plenty of free parking is available with ample parking space for buses. Located 1 mile from the #38 Bus, which runs frequently, it is a pretty walk through the park, canopied with 200 year old trees. Chamounix Mansion, located in the largest city park in the world, is just under four miles from Center City, and guests find it the perfect respite from a hectic day of urbansightseeing.

Hostel hours: 8:00 - 11:00 am and 4:30 – 2 am (curfew)

The maximum stay at Chamounix Mansion is 7 nights. Any reservation for more than seven nights will not be accepted, nor will it be confirmed, if you make separate consecutive 7 night reservations. Longer stays are possible on a case-by-case basis and can be discussed with our General Manager once you are on the premises.
