Liked: good location

Disliked: We have extended our stay by 2 nights. but on the actual day of departure came up someone to point us to suggest that the checkout is at 11 clock. I thought it was a shame that the staff didn´t deny!

Liked: Great location--close to Subway and Times Square. Staff was friendly as well.

Disliked: Basically everything that others have mentioned in previous reviews--there are mice that will eat your food if you leave it out, the beds are old and squeaky but functional, the bathrooms are old, malfunctioning, and in desperarate need of renovation, and the heaters are funky. If you're looking for a bed in the city, this place is a good value. If you want any form of amenity, look elsewhere.

Liked: It was close to where I needed to be. The location is great. It was also fairly inexpensive.

Disliked: I did not expect it to be the cleanest place for the price, but my room had ants and mold which are not healthy to live with. The heat was also broken. The room was very very warm.

Liked: Great location that is close to Times Square but without the busy atmosphere. The street was quite calm and quiet. The decor of the hostel was quite nice, and I loved the room names.

Disliked: The bathrooms were a little old (but functional).

Liked: one of the clerks (Christian) was great. Friendly, knowledgable. But some of the others were not as nice. stayed in a 3 bedroom (private?) with personal bath. clean, neat. wooden floors, heating. good sized tv. GREAT LOCATION!

Disliked: there are 2 places you can actually stay. Its not a huge deal because the buildings are 3 minutes apart walking distance, but it would have been nice to know ahead of time. the furnace was on a little too high (we went in the winter time)

Liked: Designs of the room were great. Kitchen, laundry were nice.

Disliked: We couldn't flush the toilet. No wireless in the room.

Liked: This property was in an IDEAL location, I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

Disliked: In general, it is a very nice hostel, good features, but the bathrooms are a little funky. They definitely need some good scrubbing, paint and fresh caulk. Other than the bathrooms, the place was great.

Liked: Closeness to the subway lines. The rooms are apt like rooms with bath rooms and closets.

Disliked: They need lockers which lock to secure electronics and valuables.

Liked: Excellent location, friendly staff.

Disliked: Dated, but no big deal. Shower was malfunctioning, but also not a big deal. Quiet for a Manhattan address.

Liked: Location is about the only think that this property has going for it! We were able to walk to many major New York attractions, such as Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Centre and Museums. Our bathroom was messed up by other patrons and was cleaned within half an hour. We were grateful for this as there was only one bathroom per floor.

Disliked: Our room was poorly ventilated and smelt, staff are not accessible, we didn't feel like there was a high level of safety and we were not made to feel welcome. There is no atmosphere in this hostel and they do not provide any information about the city. Also, we had a mouse in our room overnight eating food that we had. This was a known problem but staff never warned us about food in our rooms and when they went to set traps in our room they left it unlocked for the remainder of the day. Very poor! This is basically a bed in a good location but I would look elsewhere for accommodation in NYC.

Liked: It is in a GREAT neighborhood - very close to the subway and Central Park. The street is quieter but still close to everything. They have done their best to keep the place cheerful and welcoming and the staff are very nice. There are useful common areas and a nice back garden.

Disliked: The property is old and a little tired, but they have tried to keep it cheerful with paint and themed rooms. The facilities are pretty basic, but everything works properly. These are NOT "luxury" accomodations, but functional and a good value.

Liked: Very central, 10 minute walk to central park, broadway and times square.

Disliked: No alcohol allowed in the rooms. Understandable for the party animals out their but bad if you'd like a few quite drinks before a night out.

Liked: good location and comfortable beds

Disliked: i was shocked to hear that i was paying $100 more per night compared to the other travellers (one of which was staying in a double bed) in my room, also i was not notified that i had to switch rooms and came back to find ALL of my stuff just lying in the hallway!

Liked: The location is unbeatable, so convenient but the street is actually fairly residential and quiet. The staff were really helpful and the common living room area was nice.

Disliked: The bathrooms on our floor were in really poor condition.

Liked: The room was very good, a lot of room, well equipped kitchen and it's very well located.

Disliked: There's a building site in front of the room, however only heard noise from 9am to 6 pm and during the weekend they were not working as well

Liked: Location is good. Facilities including fridge and tv in the (private double) room and wifi. Decent cooking facilities

Disliked: Uncomfortable bed - there were springs sticking out of mattress on both sides (in the body shaped ruts). Breakfast, while free, was seriously disappointing consisting as it did of cardboard-y cheerios and foul coffee. The promise of toast was unfulfilled.
