Lisa RobinsonI had the best time and would definitely recommend this place. The staff were SO helpful (esp. Gabriele, thank you!). It felt nice and friendly and people were respectful of each other's space and privacy. The location is perfect and if you are travelling on a budget, then this IS the place for you! I would definitely go back again. Thanks VERY much! :-) |

Customer reviewLike others have said... Fantastic location for everything midtown... walked everywhere and subway lines all close by. Also felt very safe walking the streets in the evening. I was in a dorm in the second property so if I wanted the free breakfast had to walk back to the main property of a morning to eat, was easier to grab a bagel on the way. Was also informed by a fellow guest who had been moved from the main property to my dorm that I was very lucky to be there... main property very run down and not so clean (but this is word of mouth, not experience). Overall great value if you can handle a slightly rougher experience for the location. |

Customer reviewWhat I didnt like about this property was it was grubby and cold. The room was painted offensive bright orange and very cramped. When booking online I looked at the rooms and the one we were given was the worst, we were staying for 7 nights I think we should have gotten a better room. When we asked if it was possible to have another room (willing to pay extra for an upgrade) the women at reception was rude and defensive, we were very polite and respectful. When I asked for extra blankets one evening that was quite cold the man at reception that evening was very unhelpful "we don't have extra blankets" and only decided to help us when I threatened to complain to the management. |

Customer reviewReally good for people not wanting to spend much money but also be in a great location along with friendly and helpful staff. 5mins walk to Times Sq and less to Central Park. If I come back to NYC I will definitely stay here if I don't have a lot of money. |

Philipp DukatzDefinately the location. Especially if you only stay for a week or so. We stayed for 10 days in the 6 bed dorm. You are right in Manhattan, close to Times Square. The common room is pretty basic but you are still able to meet people. The staff was cool and helpful. Overall I can definately recommend to stay at 1291. |

Customer reviewThe best thing was the location with the nearby Central Park and Columbus Circle for metro lines and of course walking distance to Times Square. Also the 10th Avenue for great restaurants. |
