Liked: I liked a lot that the hostel is very close to the center. It takes only 5 minutes to get to the time square. great subway connections. very friendly stuff, rooms are a mean to an end.

Disliked: I am a girl and at my first night I got a 50 year old roommate and he was raly strange. I had a 2 bed room. i was really afraid of him. if girls don't like to share with boys than you should book a hostel were it's possible to book a womensromm only!

Liked: well located and very friendly staff fruit jellies and peanuts butter, bread, tea and coffee available all day

Disliked: The room I stayed in was too dark as the walls are painted purple

Disliked: hard to get hot water on the third floor. Pillows were very lumpy and old.

Liked: nice staff, very friendly an helpfull. The location was also very good - subway was not far away.

Disliked: Bathroom wasn't that clean. But for a mixed dorm with 7 people (!!) it was quite okay.

Liked: staff, rooms, climate, almost everything

Disliked: it needs elevator for sure but everything else is fine.

Liked: Excellent location 5 minutes from times square, great friendly staff, nice 2 floored dorm with its own kitchen!

Disliked: lockers in the dorm would be the only improvement, and on day 2 my bed had been stripped but not remade which is a bit odd. I'd suggest either stripping and remaking or just leaving it.

Liked: great location. great staff. great apartment with balcony. i had to extend my stay and that was no problem.

Disliked: no wi-fi in the second building in which i stayed (one block from the main building). late fee (40$). that is too much.

Disliked: friendly of owner. its just a place to sleep it is looking bad. the breakfast is the minimum.

Liked: Nice staff, very helpful. Great location

Disliked: Bathroom was not very clean. Bathroom ceiling was leaking on you when you were sitting on the toilet (not very peaceful). Bed springs dig into your back.

Liked: location was fab, supermarkets near by so we could by supplies and room had fan so we were able to cool down after a hot day.

Disliked: having to walk to a separate block for our accomodation, having to take our used bedding back to the office when we checked out (so carrying them down the street, as well as our bags), having people walk through our room to get to their rooms.

Disliked: Slightly cramped rooms, cleaners didn't seem to do a lot of cleaning.

Liked: The location was perfect for getting about and we felt very safe.The staff were really helpful and friendly. The property was quiet and peaceful however fellow guests were always friendly too.

Disliked: The decor. Yikes. There was also no wifi or air conditioning until our last day. They did however give us a tiny refund for the inconvenience of having no wifi after I asked for it.

Liked: The location between Central Park and Times Square and only 3 blocks away from the closest subway

Disliked: The smell in my room, no hot water the first day on second floor, no water on first floor, but it was fixed later...

Liked: nice people in my dorm. really nice and helpful staff. the location near central park and time square is awesome!!

Disliked: the breakfast... usually suspects: cornflakes, coffee and toast, no taste...

Liked: Great location, best in NY. Quiet enough, but close to Times Square, Metro, Central Park... everything was a short distance away!

Disliked: Cleanliness, particularly of bathrooms (mould!). Also cleanliness of other guests, however this is not within the hostels control.

Liked: It was great in the dormroom when we were only womens. The 1291 has a very good localisation.

Disliked: The beds are not comfortable and the breakfast was so-so. No butter and toasters they don't work...

Liked: location, location, location

Disliked: i booked very late and they were the only ones still available for the whole time, so i stayed there in an apartment with other travelers, one block away from reception, kitchen and the small common area... though it was quite nice (not the cleanest but acceptable) for a solo traveller that's bad because meeting people was a lot more difficult like that.. furthermore i had mostly really annoying roommates... some extremely messy, others noisy all night long and there was nobody to put them in their place, no night watchman or similar..

Liked: Apart from the initial discontent I was pleased about its location. I made some very interesting people in the dorm, its inevitable, the space is dense and small.

Disliked: The noise from the streets are unbearable, and window don't seal completely.
