Liked: I couldn't say enough nice things about this property. The setup is 6 two person rooms in a full floor apartment. Like others have mentioned on this site, don't judge this property by the entrance- this is truely an urban oasis once you get up the lift. The owners are fantastic and the fact that the wife is an experienced european hostel operator means that this hostel is kept to a very high standard. Would come back again and again!

Liked: I have no complaints about this property. I found the owner very helpful when trying to get to a certain part of Brooklyn so that I could Photograph it. I also found that the owner always checked up on how you were enjoying your stay, if she was around when you were and she always had time to listern, to talk. I like the come and go policy (no Curfew) was great and I haven't stayed in such a central location like this. What more can you ask for when you have a Subway not 5 minutes away. I highly recommend this place and plan to return in Sept 2011 as i pointed out to the owner as there are still bits of New York that I haven't seen and I have yet to See Central Park with Leaves on it's trees. Roll on Sept 2010 when I can book for Sept 2011.

Liked: From the outside it didn't look that appealing, but when you get in it's a lovely, bright and very clean space. We got upgraded in our room choice free of charge, it was easy to check in and out, and the facilities were great - really nice kitchen, modern, well-fitted bathrooms, cable tv, a movie library, music system etc. The room was bright, comfortable and spacious.The lady in charge was very friendly and a real help to us - very happy to help out with any queries, advise us on places to try, how to get places, local supermarkets etc. It was also nice that there wasn't someone there all the time to watch over you, so there was a good atmosphere and it was easy to relax. If we needed any help. the owner gave us her mobile number and was available at all times.The area was brilliant - only 10 minutes from Times Square, about 15 minutes from the heart of 5th Avenue, and there were many public transport facilities nearby. There was also a very nice wine and chocolate bar next door!I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to explore New York. I would also be happy to stay here again!

Liked: My husband and me enjoyed our stay at the urban oasis in NYC a lot. The accomodation is extremely stylish, clean and functional. The rooms are spacy, from the roof-light you see the top of the Empire Space Building and they play soft chill-out music in the commom room. Furthermore internet, water and technical things like fan, heater, microwave, coffee-machine, oven, elevator etc. are working 24 hours a day, you don't have any trouble with broken, old or damaged stuff. The beds, especially the mattresses, are clean and comfortable and the manager Szilvia is very nice, helpfull and reliable.Our next stay will surely be at the urban oasis! Liked: This hostel was the best accommodation on our trip. It was an amazing loft converted apartment with such a relaxing atmosphere. Upon arrivial you would have thought different as it looked from the outside a run down building. Once inside it was a comtemporary modern apartment, everything was new and clean. The staff were more than hopefully. The location was central and in walking distance of everything. Would recommend to friends.

Liked: Urban Oasis is a great place to stay at when your in New York. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. The location is great, it is clean, cosy and very safe. I would recommend it to everybody. My mother and I travelled together. She is 50 years old and she loved it. So when I say I recommend it to everybody I mean it! Thank you :)

Liked: It was a small, hostel with only 6 rooms so there wasn't heaps of ppl around all the time and it meant it was very well looked after. No noise when wanting to sleep . Modern and very clean. Free internet. Nice bathrooms and shared area with a tv and movie library. People who ran it were so lovely, freindly & helpful and the location was excellent.

Liked: We felt like we were staying in a real New York apartment - high ceilings, open spaces and large windows, allowing for sufficient amount of natural light in our bedroom. Great experience. While I was taken a back by the price of hostels in New York, after research and comparing prices and location, Urban Oasis ended up being a good place to stay at. No regrets and the most attractive feature of the place is the hospitality you receive the moment you pass through the front door up until the end of your stay. Plus, if you are looking to spend a bit of time in lower downtown, then this place is the place for you. Very conveniently located and within walking distance from Penn Station which is where my Megabus coach (coming from Philadelphia) stopped me of at.
