Disliked: The room is awful! Heat is not adjustable, bathroom not working. Very sketchy area.

Disliked: maybe is not the best zone in manhattan but the subway is near so its not a big deal

Liked: The staff here were extremely helpful and kind. The nearby subway line was also very handy for commuting downtown. There was a lot of attention paid to ensuring the guests felt comfortable during their stay which was nice to see!

Disliked: There was a lot of red-tape invloved in securing the booking which was inconvenient especially as we had already paid our deposit.

Liked: the bathrooms were kept clean. the room we got was clean & had a window [great for 4 dudes!] towels were provided when needed. kitchen was kept clean.

Disliked: only 2 bathrooms in our floor was kind of a hassle. room was a bit small.

Liked: The loaction was good close to subway after getting over the intial shock of being in new york it was nice to get to a safe and home like place. The kitchen area was excellent and well equiped.

Disliked: I didnt like that there no WC by its self there in both bathrooms so if someone in the shower you cant use the toilet. Something thats completely out of the hostel control is the level of noise that the other guest make! The walls are thin thin. When people are in the communal area or upstairs the noise travels you can here word for word what going on. May be a silence time? One night the noise went on til at least 1am The other thing is the entire management team bitching about the running of the hostel loudly around guests- thats what offices are for! I felt uncomfortable with it happening. Information over load be arive -its really confusing to not quite sure what the point? You get and email explain what you need to do. Its very very drwn out to much just need to cut it back to just information thats needed.

Liked: It's in a friendly place of New York. In about 15 minutes you are at Times Square with the Metro. You have enough beds, kitchen and bathroom.

Disliked: Nothing, it's great for the amount of money you pay in a city as New York.

Liked: The owner and the staff was extremely helpfull and nice, right away we felt comfortable and at home. I have stayed at a lot of other cheap accomodations like this all over the U.S. and this is deffinitly one of the better ones. When you're tirred after a long and busy day in New York it's nice to be able to cook yourself dinner (and save some bucks by not eating out) , watch some tv and just sit back and relax. The location was pretty good even though it's not right next to the things most tourists would want to see, it's so close to the subway (which is crucial!!) that it doesn't really matter. The neighbourhood is pretty nice - many people might be alarmed by the fact it is in Harlem, but it was actually pretty interesting (and completely safe) to live here and see how well the neighbourhood is coming along. There is not that much to do there, but the African market and Tom's restaurant are deffinitly both worth a visit.

Disliked: There where some annoying people on our floor, but that could really hapen anywhere.

Liked: The owner very friendly and helpful with the guests. The location is fantastic, just few steps from the metro on 116th street. Many shops in the surroundings (market, coffes, post office...).

Disliked: At the first impact could be not good, but when you realize that you are in one of the most characteristic area of NYC you will be very grateful to stay there!

Liked: The property was great. 100 feet from the subway, in a nicer Harlem neighborhood. Would definitely stay there again. Clean rooms, clean linen and towels, clean bathrooms. The two owners were very friendly and helpful. Very secure building.

Liked: That it was clean and affordable.

Disliked: The private room I got was had space just for a bed and nothing else. Still it was comfortable. The location was good if not a little bit sketchy.

Liked: It wAS two steps from subway, and I had a lot of subway lines thar pass in that station. Teh neighbourhood was nice, the surrounding either. It was near evertything. Also., it was clean, well organized, friendly.

Disliked: The extrem little room that they gave to me (I wanted a room fort myself). The opverbooking the day I arrived, that made that a lot of us had to wait sonme time to be attended. Bathrooms were too near from the kitchern, where everybody gathered.

Liked: Good location. It's in Harlem but a nice enough area and felt generally safe.

Disliked: The place had bed bugs, and my partner was bitten badly repeatedly all over her body. This is an issue in places all over NYC, but still, even if you go for budget accommodation you shouldn't have to suffer this sort of thing. Do check if they've had an extermination team in recently before you book to stay here.

Liked: value is superb, much better and cozier than any hostel could be. The proprietor, is very accommodating and considerate. No problem with bed bugs at all, beds were comfortable, room was bright, well heated, very clean and well equipped. It was like staying at a friends home! definitely would come back to this place

Disliked: location isnt too bad, but is a bit far away from the downtown core. its proximity to harlem made me feel a bit less comfortable with coming back too late in the evening, but didnt have any bad experiences. shower water heat was very on and off, wasnt constant but can definitely be overlooked with all the other pluses of the room.

Liked: Good location, safe.

Disliked: We tried to change our booking for one day earlier a moth before our arrival. We received confirmation a week before coming but as we arrived it turned out they looked for spare room. We had to change room twice because of mistakes in administration and it would be no problem if it weren't three blocks apart and we had a lots of baggage with us. We also had to pay fee for late arrival even thougt we came at time. I tried to get back money but couldn't get in touch with administation. they also tried to make us pay fee for using credit card even thought we paid with cash. I recommend carefully read a receipt.
