Liked: Hostel is near to subway and clean.

Disliked: When we arrive in hostel the receptionist said that they only had one bed because in their system was reserved only one bed. I shown the print sent where he can see that our reservation was 2 beds in femine room. However the man did not respect our reservation and we had to stay in mixed room. There are a number of expenses that are not reported on Internet. For example you have to leave a deposit for the key, in our case, when we got there we were informed that the value was 10 dollars more expensive. The room was very cold and if you want a blanket, you must rent it. The last day you must collect your sheet.

Liked: very close to the station & manhattan.you can take the L train and it takes less than 15 min. (4 stops)There's market, restaurants block away. they serve awesome breakfast (yes, its free) : waffles, pancakes, bread, tea, fruits.rooms are huge for 12 people.

Disliked: the neighbor's pretty sketchy and dangerous. there's trucking station next to the building and trucks go in and out between 1~6 in the morning. make sure to bring your own lock. you dont want to end up paying $5 for a small lock that you can find at every 99 cent stores. They charge you $5 deposit for door key.

Liked: The hostel itself is very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Full kitchen area and fridges. Wi-FI is actually pretty secure compared to most hostels. Large court yard with picnic tables and lawn chairs. Their were BBQs on some nights, but they were rather unorganized and slow to serve.

Disliked: The location is further from Manhattan than I wanted to be. The area appears very ghetto, but is actually very safe and inhabited by hipsters. The hostel charges for towels which I don't agree with. The hostel also went into lock down around 10pm including the common areas and courtyard which was not very socializing friendly. No bar or alcohol sold on premises also annoyed me.

Liked: This is a great deal for New York. The dorms have a lot of people (12), but they are huge and each person has a lot of space. There are small individual lockers for belongings, and individual lights near the beds. The location is in Brooklyn, an easy subway ride from Manhattan, and the staff will help you find directions to where you want to go.

Disliked: They could use more common space to hang out in, and some more social activities would be nice. The free breakfast is good, especially the fruit, but they could use real coffee (not instant) and some cereal that is not heavily sugared. Often a wait for bathrooms.

Liked: Really beautiful building modern and very clean, dorms near the entrance a bit noisy at night. Location is totally ok didn't find the area sketchy at all! Staff is nice great breakfast and BBQ only the kitchen hygiene is sometimes a bit neglected. All in all one of the nicest hostel I've stayed in!

Disliked: 45 $ for a dorm is still crazy in my opinion but compared to other NYC hostels best value for money!

Disliked: Total discontrol of the rooms. We booked a 12 people room but we ended in a room for 16 people and the last night there were more peple than beds. I don`t know if it was a problem of organitation or security but in both cases was inaceptable.

Liked: I stayed here for a week in the dorm with my 17 year old son and my 22 year old daughter (I'm in my mid 50s). We all really enjoyed the experience and all felt very welcome. The sheets were crisp and clean, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space between the bunk beds in the dorms. The ensuite was good for being within the room but a little busy at times. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful at all hours of the day or night and we also enjoyed the backyard. We didn't ever get to the jacuzzi although we did know it was there. We tried some of the local cafes and restaurants recommended by the hostel. Orwell's, Danny's, the wholefood shop, Roberta's. All were excellent and the ambience at Roberta's was the best we encountered. The area seems a little bleak at first but we felt safe walking about and the L line goes straight into Manhattan (takes about 20mins-30mins). A great experience.

Disliked: Except details of how to get there - we didn't know the A train was the Air train!

Liked: The facilities were suitable, spacious room. Although it could have been more organised, the breakfast was good. Modern decor and generally clean and tidy.

Disliked: The prices on the website didn't include tax, which came as a shock when it was time to pay. The first night I was there, there was a house party in the building next door and the noise of a drum kit being played was ridiculous and went on until 2:30 in the morning. The bottled water had run out in all of the vending machines. It is located in a very industrial and quite run down area, which although there were never any problems, it wasn't the best for particularly female travellers. Also because of the area, there was also a lot of building and industrial noises very early in the morning. The tiles on the bathroom floor were coming away, which was causes a mess.

Disliked: You have to walk about 2 blocks to subway station. But that's not far away.

Liked: Woke up and went to breakfast..first day in NY/US...and boom! I've never seen so much food before. Fruit, pancakes, waffles, maple syrup, bread, and numerous sugar coated cereal. East for two meals and save money!! The breakfast is free by the way.Rooms are enormous! SO there is plenty of space to spread out.Not the best for meeting people because its so big and spacious (not sure if its a good or bad thing), but there was a bbq on Thursdays that I think end in all going out, but i wasn't there for that.24 hour reception is always helpful.breakfast is from 6am-9am so you need to get up early, but that's a little encouragement to get out there and see stuff! You shouldn't spend any time in NY in bed really unless your getting actions, but you should get a private room for that!

Disliked: If you don't have your own computer internet is expensive ($2 for 20mins), where as wireless is free. I had just had my netbook stolen (not here, in Spain) so was annoyed for that. The location isn't very convenient for getting to downtown Brooklyn, but you're on the line into Manhattan which is good. The accommodation price doesn't include taxes so when you get there expect to be paying a little more than the advertised price!

Liked: There are a lot of good things about this hostel, first of all I really liked the location. Close to both Manhattan and Williamsburg, nice little deli close by, as well as cafe and restaurant. Brooklyn is a much better choice than, say, Times Square!Even though the dorm was for 12 people it wasn't crowded because the room was HUGE. There was also a nice garden area and although I didn't take advantage of it, I heard there was a free BBQ one night. Kitchen looked good too, but again I didn't use it. Very safe overall.

Disliked: Then the bad... For my first 3 nights I paid 60 dollars per night plus tax, and even if it's NYC I still think it's a ridiculous price for a 12-bed dorm. The hostel is good, yes, but the value for money just wasn't there! For my last 3 nights the price was cut in half, if I remember right, and THEN it was excellent value. Also there aren't enough bathrooms. In the morning if you're unlucky the wait could be anything really. There was 1 bathroom for us 12 in the dorm, plus 2 bathrooms in the halls (that anyone could use) but there was always a line. Shower was lukewarm at the best, which wasn't really problem cause it was still so hot, but could be annoying in the winter.

Liked: At breakfast there are tons of bread, cereal, milk, fruit, waffles, jelly, cream cheese, coffee and tea, just make sure to wakeup early to grab some. Free BBQ are Thursdays and Sundays which are great time to meet people from all over the world. Drinking is allowed until 10 and they close kitchen and backyard at midnight, so better go to any of the at least 4 bars in the neighbourhood to hang out. There are at least 3 bathrooms in each floor and they are pretty clean and big.

Disliked: Neighbourhood could look some what insecure but before spending a couple hours there you will notice it's an amazing place, with lot of bars, lofts and places to live and young people.

Liked: This place was awesome! A perfect end to 2 months travelling round the US. The layout of the hostel is really cool and makes it really easy to meet other travelers. the rooms are huge giving you loads of personal space. Williamsburg is a cool arty area with lots of nice bars to go out to at night where you can get away from new york's mass of tourists and mix with the locals. theres a little shop really close to the hostel which, although rather pricy, sells alcohol, cadburys chocolate and amazing fresh wraps and sandwiches. Though the area can feel quite different from Manhattan it's actually a really quick journey there on the subway - 10/15 mins max. Definitely stay here you won't regret it!!
