Liked: the hostel has character, it is well maintained. It has everything you can need even for a long stay.

Disliked: It is a bit far from manhattan even though it is quick to get there using the subway.

Liked: Best hostel breakfast I have ever experienced. Cool area, very close to subway. Awesome rooms.

Liked: Large choice for breakfast which was included just like the BBQ. Building recently renovated, interesting style.

Disliked: Public phone in the lobby was out of service.

Liked: Big rooms with a big space for everybody, locker in the room, little garden outside, good breakfast, nice people!

Disliked: the wifi connection is for free but you need a laptop or an ipad, cause de computers in the lounge room work only with a credit card the lounge room is too small and if it is raining there's not enough space for everybody. it wasn't possible pay with debit card or visa electron.

Liked: Clean, funky, fun and very comfortable. One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in.

Disliked: Breakfast was a bit rubbish and chaotic, the rooms are so spacious so a bit unfriendly but the outside area is great for meeting people and the location is awful if you want to explore Brooklyn (hve to go back into Manhattan!), bit far from the big attractions and no good bars or restaurants nearby

Liked: i loved everything about this hostel, great atmosphere, great decor, i always felt safe and the staff were so friendly and helpful!

Liked: Location's great for the subway and the free barbecue's are amzing. The food never stops!

Disliked: The rooms are massive and impersonal, the communal space doesn't lend itself very well to meeting new people and the staff weren't very knowledgeable about the local area (like where cinema's were) or helpful with practical things in the hostel like how to use the TV. They were friendly though!

Liked: I stayed in an 8-bed dorm, all the beds had their own space (no bunk beds!) and there were two ensuite bathrooms in the dorm. The linen was clean with no bed-bugs or other nasties. There are lockers, I brought my own padlock but you cant rent one. However the room seemed pretty secure. The air-con was a bit noisy but no big deal. The hostel was very friendly and they even put on a free barbecue every few nights in the summer. It is <5 minutes walk from the subway and I felt safe walking back very late at night, though women or travellers not used to cities might not be so keen. Breakfast is free but the cereal choices are pretty sugary; on the other hand, the convenience store is just around the corner so it is easy to stock up on your own supplies.

Disliked: Not much - noisy air-con, and the bathrooms could probably be mopped out more often. The people in my dorm were pretty cool. There was a very large group of French schoolkids staying at the same time, so bear that in mind if you are not a fan of places where large groups book in; I had no problems with it.

Liked: it's a nice new loft building in east-williamsburg and it takes only about 25 minutes to the city center of manhatten. breakfast is great (lot of stuff to choose and also fruits offered) - friday and sunday bbq for free is good (mainly meat and it takes a while) but it's free ;)

Disliked: it's a little too expensive for not being in manhatten - but i guess they have to pay off their loan, as the building is brand new refurbished. - good hostel if you book only one week ahead - other hostels are better value for money for a long planned trip to NYC. - overall experience was still good!

Liked: Excellent atmosphere, great people, fantastic place and facilities- am looking to stay again very soon!

Disliked: The air con on the 4th floor room wasn't great but this seemed to be localised to our room only.

Liked: this property is good because there is always people around so youll easily find things to do if youre a lonley traveller

Disliked: the location isnt great- but subway is very close and you can get around easy. for what you pay for this hostel which is atleast 60 bucks a night (keep in mind tax added on top) so its not really worth that much...not to mention that they have little charges all around the hostel like 3 bucks for the luggage room..i thought that was ridiculous

Disliked: the breakfast was ok (american), but a bit messy. there should be a solution for doing the dishes...

Liked: - Professionalism - Spaciousness - Decoration of hostel (kind of industrial decoration - supports the atmosphere) - The surrounding is very nicely decorated by streetart - Subway station is really close

Disliked: - If you get breakfast for free don't expect anything special - Kind of far from Brooklyn downtown & Manhattan - Fee for the storage room

Liked: Great terrace area for meeting people. The east williamsburg area of brooklyn is v hipster and cool too!

Disliked: Staff were not exactly unhelpful, but didn't go out of their way to be helpful. Some local info would have been v useful

Liked: Great atmosphere, fantastic location & a wonderful variety of international and national guests staying here make the Loft far superior than most. My stay in NYC was made that much easier with the generous assistance of the staff here, in particular-Tracy, who always had patience and time for any query, no matter how big or small. I would return here in a heartbeat and will recommend it to anyone headed to the city that never sleeps!!!

Liked: I loved this hostel, not a bad word to say about it. The staff are great, great location, plenty of room in the dorms. I have already re-booked a bed here on my return journey.
